New Battery = No Power?!

  RS Meg 175
Hello all,

Grabbed a new battery yesterday due to the old one not holding charge be it through jump starting or charging from the mains, But it started with a mobile power pack attached to it.

I fitted everything as you would expect (just reversing how I dettached the old battery.)

But after fitting I turn the key and there is not even a little bit of power, nothing.

I noticed the clamps that go onto the battery poles were a bit corroded, i thought maybe it could be those?!

I have also read about alternators causing similar problems?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

You need to start simple so:

  1. Check the battery has voltage.
  2. Check all connections, both +12v and earths are secure and intact.
  3. Check all fuses (Especially the 120A unit in the + battery terminal).
If the above is ALL present and correct you will need to widen your search... normally the above will fix things though.
