Alan

Haha fair play. After pics needed with the drop..
The standard Brembo's not up to much?

Its only a small drop of 18 mm and 14 mm so nothing much .

The Brembo are very good with the DS2500 but there was a good offer on the BBK so thought sod it .

It will be

356mm front 8 pot
356mm rear 6 pot

Alan

Nice and thorough thread - I like

Aren't 8 and 6 pot brakes a bit OTT for something with this sort of power and torque? Sounds like spending money for the sake of it to me.

Excellent attention to detail, Alan.

Looking forward to more updates. What power does the s/c conversion offer on these? They've aged really well these!

DE or HR engine in this? I'm guessing DE based on the age. I'm sure i've read of con rod trouble on cars with 400+bhp on the earlier DE engine, the later HR engine is good for a lot more power apparently.

Just something to bare in mind if you decide to drop a load of cash on a supercharger kit.

Jesus christ... That is expensive! Surely an already fast car plus this would be less hassle?

Do you wants z4 for 6 months and then I'll take it back?

Just do what you've done to this one and I'll take it back when it's all properly sorted.

Great work!

:) I do most times get bored and sell up half finished but not on this one it would seem .

Yesterday I got the car park dents on the drivers door removed that were annoying me .

Small but I could see them .

WP_20150623_0011_zpsyags00tc.webp

After

WP_20150623_0021_zpsehgdtdsy.webp

All pulled out with no paint or filler so im happy with that .

Alan

Update time

Was booked in to Abbey Motorsport for some work to be done .

First was a new Exedy clutch and LUK DMF that was fitted and new gear box oil added .

Some pic of the old units that have done 92K miles .

Old DMF

WP_20150717_0012_zpsimwz1n8b.webp

Old Clutch still in ok shape but some of the rivets were getting close .

WP_20150717_0021_zps4bxtewfl.webp

WP_20150717_0061_zpswhg9nmkh.webp

Then as the gearbox was off I had some DC sports S/S manifolds ( headers if you are from the USA ) installed .

Old log type manifold with smallish ports and uneven length tubes .

WP_20150717_0031_zpspgaw3fmf.webp

WP_20150717_0041_zpsvhv3tfcn.webp

New DC Sport S/S equal length manifold

WP_20150716_0011_zpss60qam6a.webp

Installed .

WP_20150718_0031_zpsr0t1gqbl.webp

And last to be re mapped on the dyno .

I was told that the manifolds would only give a very small gain in power and torque so the gains are about what I was expecting with the bonus of more power and torque on the whole rev range ( + 11 LB/FT at 2300 RPM ) and not moving the power and torque up all at the top of the rev range .

Another few updates over the weekend .

Just a small update on the BBK I got from Torqen after a day after bedding the system in .

The great think about the kit is that it has the same feel as my old Brembo set up in as far as when you touch the peddle at slow speeds it does not grab or is too sensitive .

I would say at ¼ to ½ peddle travail the force / stopping power is the same as my Brembo set up with DS2500 ( DS2500 when hot ) pads S/S lines and new discs .

From then on at ¾ the car stops like it has hit a tree and I still have not given them the full on stamp .

I will see how much better they get when fully bedding in .
