New Car: Trophy No.248

Having had a clio mk3 1.2 TCE for a while, then moving on to a Lupo Gti for 18 months, I've now made a return to clio ownership with Trophy (No.248)...

Bought it from a guy in Grantham not too far from me, it was his wifes run around and has only covered 22k, already had the dampers refurbished by BG Motorsport along with them being unpinned. The previous owner had it set 4 clicks softer than the standard damping setting so thats got right back to where it should be now :D.

Its only ever had the intermediate services so I've got it booked in for the 5 year major service (cambelt, aux belt etc) with Fred in a few weeks. Just contemplating the much debated dephaser change and whether I'll have that done as well despite the low mileage.

Had it around 2 weeks now, but due to the weather I've not really been able to take it out and see what it can really do so just been taking it easy, its killing me!

First chance I've had to give it a proper wash inside and out and its come up pretty well I think. You can see the mk3 1.2 TCE lurking in the background, thats now my brothers. No major plans as yet, just a few small things to tidy it up, the variable wiper stalk conversion, 3/4 size no. plate with correct spacing, silvervisions, leather rear bench and doorcards to match.

Good taste sir.

The T sounds perfect though needing xenons and plain plates.

I really love the Trophy's I must say, it was hard choosing the FRP over one.

Does not need xenon's. The ph2 xenon's aren't great, not the best coverage. Added to the fact that it's a bumper off job to swap, and it won't get through an mot due to the new regulations, silly mod.

Great cars, overall the best fwd that I've driven/owned.

Required mod.

Your opinion is void as you are brown.

Looks nice mate. :)

What are those lupos like? Any good?

The lupo was good fun, loved the look of it once lowered, as they sit very high as standard. You could certainly notice the german build quality throughout compared to the Clio, but I'm sure the drive of the T is even better and more fun!

Miss mine so much, I'm always browsing on Pistonheads looking at them! You'd think that I'd have had enough of it after 30,000+ miles but nope, I still would have another in a heartbeat! You won't be disappointed, they're amazing.

Looks great! Xenons would finish it off mind!

Detailed my mates T the other week, the red really does come up nice!

Looks amazing, not keen on red but this is the dogs b****cks. Looks perfect condition, whats the interior like ?

Cheers, yeah the interior is mint too and no signs of any melting to the steering wheel yet which is a plus.

bloody lovely T, nice lupo too. You using both cars then?

Sold the lupo now, the last photo was just before it was collected. Must say it was sad to see it go!

I think that's an amazing price. Mine owes me £9k including purchase price, cambelt, mark fish stuff, private plate and is on 50k. Scares me to think you got a nice one so cheap!

Btw, MF turned my dampers down (do have stiffer springs) and he was adamant that, this is the better setting.

The Trophy's are very good and I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
