  Fiesta ST Stage 3
Last update .

I was not over happy with the silver heat reflective wrap and after reading a few things was told that this would not be the best move as it may trap the heat in the cold intercooler pipe .

After some advise I ordered some DEI gold tape as this will reflective about 80 % of the heat but as it is only thin tape will not insulate the pipe the same as the wrap did .

Some nice little touches there Alan.

The only thing that I'm wondering is why you'd need a blanket for the turbo? I'm sure it gets hot enough without it ;) lol.

  Fiesta ST Stage 3
It gets cold at night and scared :)

been told nothing but good things about them and a few people on IMOC run them with good results .

Keeps the hot side of the turbo hot adding spool and keeps the bay temp down ( all in the below link )

Ah ok fair enough. Some of these mods I've never even heard of before! It's all this jap stuff me thinks!

What's the deal with the rolling road then?

Going to check AFR and see what power she is making now the boost is at 1.2 BAR .

Can get them for most Turbo I think .

I keep being reminded of these. I LOVE them. my first quick car was a 257bhp Rev 3 GTS just like yours on an n reg. I got it as a fresh JDM import with 100,000km on the clock and it ran so sweet. Black with white enkei rp01's and cusco front brace. then I fitted BC coilovers, Bride drivers seat, omp wheel, buddy club spec 2 exhaust (omg) and braided hoses. Was so perfect. You have made me a jealous and sad man. haha.
Lovely example you have there matey, keep up the good work :)

Thanks mate yes it is fun .

How did you find the BC coilovers ?

This is next on the list after breaks but im not sure to keep with a new set of stock shocks ?

Was this at Yapton or on the A29 ?

Yes I will let you know what she does might be over 300 BHP at a guess .

Will be good to see what the new place is like for the next Clio sport rolling road day too .

Alan

I'm sure I saw you pass or heading the other way or something a day or two ago.

Fingers crossed for a good number at SRR!

They were very good to be honest, only thing I found (and this may have changed by now) is that I couldn't get the front end low enough. And I'm not talking about slammed unusable, I'm talking lower than stock! They had to send me some shorter springs with a slightly higher spring rate (6kg/mm rather than the usual 5kg/mm) and shorter dampers so that it would sit low enough and it just made it low enough. Apart from that they're very well made and easy to adjust (thinking about it I literally have got two front dampers and those 5kg/mm front springs if you want (for a small sum) that were literally brand new and unused as they let me keep the extras!).

I was young and naive though and didn't put good tyres or pads on so I didn't get to use them to their fullest. However even with budget performance on they stuck like ****. Everyone used to comment on the handling too and they all had very good handling cars.

Ps they do look so so good lowered.

Actually I think that might have been on the stock dampers with lowering springs (how I got the car)
This is definitely BC's and wheels powdercoated (Y)

  Fiesta ST Stage 3
Yes you can see the difference .

Did it make the ride much firmer as at the mo with stock shocks ( Bilstein ) it is firm enough with that so not to sure if any firmer would suit me .

You could pretty much get to stock ride quality if keeping the damping low so yeah I'd say you'd be able to make it similar and then tweak it very quickly for track when you go on.

mmmmm will have to think about this then esp as the stock set up is over £ 1000 .

Look much better and and with the Ring xenon gas lamps ( 120 % more light ) there is a big improvement in the light on the road . a longer beem and more light to the side .

Alan

  Fiesta ST Stage 3
Yeah look better but they give around a 30 % more light output due to the reflector and clear lens so not just for the looks as the std lights on the MR2 are sh*t .

Alan

Nice work. Million times better although you never see them..lol

  Fiesta ST Stage 3
Took the car to Surrey rolling road on Saturday in there new Farnborough address for a run more to check the AFR and boost after turning up the boost last week .

I was the only one booked in after Charlie had a few c
ancelations in the morning so had a good chat about the car and how he was liking the new location .

The run was all done in 23 deg heat ( Charlie said I could have not picked a worst day for a power run LOL ) so will be 5-10 BHP / 5-10 LB/FT more on a less hot day but all was fine withthe AFR and boost that was the main thing .

Also the most gain was made in the mid range @ 4000 RPM with BHP up (48) BHP and Torque up (65) LB/FT

Old graph done at the Cliosport rolling road day in Feb vs new BHP / Torque

And a quick vid

th_WP_20140621_0041_zps7e8cb8c5.jpg

The car ran very well in the heat and was spooling up nice and quick . After talking about the AFR and boost Charlie was explaining that the AFR was running very rich at the top end ( all Mr2 turbo do this ) and that he had done quite a few after they have had a Power FC ECU and map ( to sort the fuelling out to run less rich ) that all made around the 350-360 BHP mark .

I may think about this later as the car is quick enough as it is but might be something I come back to after the break and suspension upgrade .

Yes but not at first as I was thinking it would be over 310 BHP and the peak gain was only 8 BHP but the heat was robbing a fair few BHP and the torque and every where in the graph apart from the peak was up a nice bit .

Looking at 4000 rpm only it was on the old set up 160 BHP now 220 BHP (+ 60 BHP) and 210 LB/FT now 280 LB/FT (+ 70 LB/FT)

So yes very happy with that but want to put it back on the rollers when the temps come down a bit to see what she makes then .

Alan

Good result. You must be pleased.

Have I really just seen this up for sale on piston heads?! I want it! Swap with my 182 both cup packs on 77k? :D

  Fiesta ST Stage 3
Yes and no LOL

Have now got a new job so miles are going up so was thinking of selling then have turned away buyers ( 6 offers so far ) LOL

Think im going to be keeping this now and see how we get on with a 60 mile trip to work each day .

The car is putting out 220 BHP at just under 4K RPM so I can take it easy and should be ok on fuel .

Damn! Haha if you change your mind please let me know :D
PS my Clio is on 31mpg average over 2200 miles. The previous owner was getting 35.9 average over 6600 miles doing longer journies. Just bear that in mind ;) haha. The MR2 would be in good hands with me :D
