New Clio V6 Mk1 Owner - questions

Hi

Ive just bought Knockers car - picked it up today.

Its fantastic and great fun - Im coming from a 911 GT3 so I suppose they have something in common!

I have 2 questions though -

1) is it normal to smell coolant from time to time? (I used to get this on an Elise I once owned so assume it may be the same)

2) there is a slight whistling noise at certain throttle openings that sounds like the exhaust - is this normal?

Reckon mine smells of coolant a bit especially when run hard. No leaks Im aware of and doesnt run hot either.

As for whistling ... lots of whistles/whines so difficult to say if yours in a normal one. Clarkson said it was like having two Hueys in there when the revs rise ... and hes not far wrong

Not smelt anything funny (yet) & as Andy says, loads of different noises, so difficult to detect just one whistle. Get a BMC induction kit & decent exhaust. then the only sound you will hear is that glorious V6

I can hear whistling from the engine in my vee at different throttle openings. Usually at 1/4 to 1/2 throttle. Easiest cure Ive found is to never use less than 3/4 to full throttle!

The whistling is brilliant - sounds like a Huey warming up its rotors in a Vietnam clearing (Sunday Times I think).

I get the whistling in mine, no smell of coolant, but I have had to top it up a couple of times...

I must use full throttle a bit more often then!

I will check out all the hoses to make sure there are no coolant leaks

Just check the coolant cap has a rubber seal on the inside. Whistling is very normal. Agree with the induction kit - makes the car sound the way it should. (I have a pipercross on mine).

Good question! I also bought a Lamborghini though...
