New disks

  1.6 16v
hi i brought some new red dot 20 grooves :) . just wondering how to bed them in or even if they need it. please help, hopein to fit them 2moz

You should be chnaging the pads as well.
There should be a bedding in insstruction but I always bed mine in by hard braking from 60 to 10 mph or so a few times to burn of the protective coverings.

For the best performance you should use new pads with new disks. You don't need though.

If you changed em only last week, just take the pads off, and file the surface layer off, and stick em back on!

erm why not remove the opil coating with brake cleaner/carb cleaner/meths before burning it off when braking?
You'll damage the compound of the pad.
I'm sure BenR has a more technical reason but the companies recomend bedding in with hard braking.

lol ok edde whateva

if you read the instructions or even the box with any set of discs its tells you to remove the oil coatign before use.

Ive never heard this, only to always file down the surface layer of new pads, or old pads when changing the discs over.

Unless the pads are worn unevenly, where they will need to be replaced, but as only a week old, doubt this is the case.

Disk arn't perfectly even thats whty pads were to the disk they won't have worn much though hence why I did say "You don't need though."

No avtar though for a few reasons
1) Easy to spot my posts when looking throught threads its the only one without a avtar usually.
2) Cannot find a suitable one
3) Last time I made one I lost it when the old forum web space was shut down.
4) Makes me unique
4) I'm lazy.
