New Guy from Derby - Car History

  Clio 182 Trophy
Thought I would quickly introduce myself on the forum.

Quick History of my cars:

Started with a 1.2 corsa six (no pics, whats the point)

Quickly moved onto an white 08 corsa sri (with the 1.6t engine in) and was mapped at thorney motorsport with miltek and decat exhaust (ran 220bhp) and had a quaife lsd and bilstein b14's fitted, handled well to be fair.

Got bored and wanted something that was more sorted straight out the box so purchased a Black 08 Megane r26 with the lux pack. Didnt have plans to mod it but ended up doing so anyway, was running 275bhp and 300 lb/ft (limited) with a stage 2 rs tuning remap (intercooler and 3" exhaust/decat), arp rod bolts, two piece discs & uprated pads, air box mod and some federal 595 rsr's. Regret ever selling it to be honest.

Always wanted to experience a RWD car and had a craving to own a honda s2000, picked up a pre facelift 03 with 70k on the clock but was in mint condition and drove well. Engine was fantastic and chassis balance is really nice especially after I had the geometry setup done. Unfortunately the cars gearbox never felt quite right and seemed to have alot of drivetrain backlash so it got sold.

I then went back to renault with a newer car and got a 2009 200 Cup, didn't originally have plans to get this colour or the anthracite pack but in the flesh it looked mint and the recaro's are a nice bonus. Ended up fitting ktec induction kit and and spax coil overs but it always felt better standard to be honest. Never really bonded with the car over the year I had it as the steering never felt very communicative and always far to light for me anyway.

This brings me to today and I have just recently purchased a 182 Trophy, my friends has had a 182 cup for a couple of years now and I have always admired the raw no no nonsense approach to the car. Also have a bit more money in the bank now and love how cheap all the parts are for these cars!

So far I have just got the turinis refurbed at the wheel specialist in nottingham and popped some federal 595 rsr's on (love these tyres), £288 delivered!

Also got the car booked in at diamond motors for a front end refresh (inner tie rods, track rods, rack bushes and power flex arb bushes), mark fish springs and a geometry setup, can't wait.

Current impressions of the car are great, it already has the rs tuner 98 ron map on it and pull so well throughout the rev range, low down pull is miles better than the 200. The handling is also sublime when pressing on, didn't think it would match the 200 but it really does with miles more "feel" coming through the wheel.

Future plans are maybe fit the pure motorsport top mounts/brace, whiteline rarb and hopefully update the brakes but we shall see.

Not got any decent pics yet but will post up a progress thread if i get chance with some better ones in time.

Cheers

Sam

Welcome to the forum- great selection of cars you've had/have!!

How does the T compare against the S2000 (or is it too early to say...)?

I work in Derby so will keep an eye out for you

Thanks for the comments only had the trophy a couple of days and apart for the ergonomics of the car (ie. seating position, pedal position and the gearstick seems like its to far away), I love it just puts a smile on your face when you drive it. The s2000's engine was fantastic and the gear change was a real treat, it also handled very nicely (don't believe the horror stories) and for what they are they are very good value now if you find a well looked after car. Edited the video so anyone can watch it, thanks.
