Ah ok, just had a look when the last update came out, it was August ‘24. From what you’re saying I won’t get normal updates and just be getting security updates obviously no big IOS 17 or 18. So I’m good for another year and by the time 19 is up , time for getting a new iPad?2nd gen iPad Pro was dropped from the supported list when iPad os 17 came out, but iPad os 16 is still getting security updates. You should be ok until 19 comes out because Apple’s usual cadence is to keep security patches going until the OS falls two version behind the current one. Given we’ve only just had 18 released you will likely be good for another year.
i think it goes by model number, mine is a ML0R2B/A which is a 2nd gen Pro, i struggle with the gens too and still don't understand how it worksCan someone help me figure out iPads, daughter needs one for college work but I can't get my head around the naming.
So I'm looking on John Lewis at the 2022 iPad
I then want a keyboard/case for her and apple then swaps for year to generation?

Plenty powerfulNever had an iPad.. just needed for general streaming, games etc. standard iPad at £300 the beat option?
Standard iPad will be your best option. More expensive models have OLED displays which are nice, but I don’t think they’re worth the extra.Never had an iPad.. just needed for general streaming, games etc. standard iPad at £300 the beat option?
Ever considered a Surface tablet?I need some help! I've been looking for ages now and can never decide which one to buy.
I've got a really old one that I only use to watch YouTube on (mainly because it's so old it barely does anything) but even that's getting a bit s**t on it. I want to use it for a bit more.
I was looking at a pro, mainly for futureproofing (I want it to last at least five years) plus the processor, screen etc is better on a pro and it's got more speakers. Then I was deciding between 11 & 13 inch, and wanted a keyboard.. then I was into MacBook money, but I don't really want a laptop.
Is there going to be a massive update on them this year? Is a pro a waste of money?

No. I'll only buy an iPad, and I'm not an apple fan boy.Ever considered a Surface tablet?
Just YouTube, internet, bit of p**n, the usual. I figured to spend more for the longevity / futureproofing etc. What are you going to use it for? TBH the Pro is great but it’s overkill for media consumption and a bit of gaming.
I’d probably look at an Air from the Apple refurb store as the sweet spot.

Will I get five plus years out of it?
