New Janspeed fitted today

  182 Trophy
I took a trip to Roadrunner in Nottingham today to pick up my Janspeed cat back. Was having it fitted 15 minutes later by their recommended fitter about 2mins down the road. Only took 40mins for them to fit it, but it was a case of cutting the old system, which was looking a bit worse for wear anyway so it's gone in the bin.
I asked them to fit it so the pipes were sticking out as much as poss which is about 15mm (give it a more agressive look). Looks so much better than the little OEM straws.
At first barely sounded much different, but then after about 20 miles and some spirited driving it loosened up a bit and started to sound a lot better.
In terms of power there's no real gains or losses, maybe a slight increase from 2k to 4,500k and possibly a slight decrease in the vvt kick in 2nd gear...(but haven't done enough driving yet to be certain of this)
I was thinking of spending a bit less and getting a Blueflame but so glad I got this system instead (thanks to ppl on here who convinced me otherwise). Excellent build quality and superb fit all for a great price. I'll get some photos up when I get a chance.

Are you sure the max is 15 mm. When i fitted mine i felt there was alot more then that they could stick out by.

Mine are flush with the bumper when cold and the hotter the exhaust gets, the more they come out till about 15mm.

sounded the same when i fitted mine, could bearly tell the difference but after about 200 miles sounded just right

Only done about 40 miles so this means there's more to come...nice :D

Justin, the fitter said that was the furthest he could go - that's about 15mm when cold, so I just took his word for it. Looks good though.

Anyone else notice similar minor differences in power?

lol, yeah.... 'cam profile' or some guff !!

Sam: Might just be different for each exhaust. TBH, i might be wrong as i was looking to get it in further so didnt explore how far out it would come completely.

Dont notice any decrease in power. Bit better I think but it not designed soely for performance. Might just feel like it due to the easier breathing and so less kick maybe.

I thought the Janspeed exhaust was cheaper than the blueflame, maybe I am wrong.

My exhaust sticks out a fair bit, really looks good when the pipes are cleaned with metal polish. :approve:

It is a boomy sound but I am young and like to be noticed plus I don't do motorway journeys that often so its fine for me! :)

My mistake, was thinking of my old civic with the vvt...but I must admit I don't know what happens with the cam profile to cause that surge in power *goes to do a search for more info*

Justin your probably right slightly less kick due to better breathing but certainly no slower!

Not sure what rrp is for both exhausts but I found the blueflame for £270 and the janspeed for £315. Blueflame tail pipes look v nice though!

I might get a performance panel filter too. Any noticeable differences with one of these installed...induction sound? performance?
Is the ITG worth £10 more than the K&N?

Only differences with a ITG panel filter, is that your don't have to replace it and it probably sound a little different.

Anyone know of differences between the itg filter and the k&n filter? I realise ITG is the superior brand but would you really be able to tell the difference? They both never need replacing.

Ok just did a search and found opinions vary about the panel filters. ITG seems to have the best name though.
Here's a pic of the janspeed fitted. Noticed today, now it's light, that the right tail pipe doesn't sit central to the bumper cut out which is annoying me, but it's level and the hanging height is good. I presume you could straighten it out by taking it off the car, but I can't be arsed with that now its on.
