New Matte Daytona Grey Audi RS6 Avant Protection Detail

Hi all, a few weeks ago I was called up by Audi Tetbury to carry out a new car protection detail on a brand new matte Daytona Grey Audi RS6 Avant!

The car had just about every option ticked, with a few listed below, resulting in a list price entering triple figures...

£5k matte grey paint
Front and rear cameras
Full LED Headlights
Self-closing doors and tailgate
Carbon fibre everywhere
21" Diamond-cut wheels
Interior carbon fibre and entry lights
Performance exhaust system
Destricted to 189mph and 580bhp

The main reason I was called in was for preparing the matte paint, which requires unique products and care, so I opted for a full Swissvax protection.

A few before photos of the car; nothing too dirty.

The paintwork was cleaned with Swissvax Opaque which contains no gloss-enhancers - the last thing you want on matte paint!

The car was then rinsed off and driven into the drying bay

Compressed air was used to dry the gloss black wheels, to avoid unnecessary scratches

Rolled into the handover bay to complete the rest of the detail

The owner picked the car up today and was very happy with this absolute beast of a car!

Thanks for reading, comments welcome as always.

I like your work, but I actually like nothing about the car!!

I hate the colour, hate the interior, and I hate the wheels! and for 100k or so it looks really cheap looking.

Almost completely agree... the wheels are actually hanging, wtf is going on with manufacturers? This s**t needs to stop! Enough Halfords already :( colour is matt right? Never liked that. I also think the front end is far too square, but then a lot of cars seem to be going this way recently unfortunately.

Do love the interior and all the carbon fibre goodies though!

Amazing work mate. Great stuff

really hate those wheels, absolute gash, honestly don't know what possessed them to put them on the car. Also hate how there's no concave on the rears

Thanks for the comments guys, slightly mixed opinions!

I will say re the colour and wheels, there were about 10 people stood round the car admiring it when I arrived, despite there being about 10 other RS6's in red, black, grey etc. in the dealership. It really had that wow factor and wasn't as you'd expect with the metallic as opposed to the matte grey wraps kicking around.

If you are going to have that paint then you can't possibly stick silver wheels on it could you?! They looked utterly amazing in the flesh, the concave is on all 4 wheels, they set the car off and I'm the first person to say how horrible the diamond-cut era has become!

Apart from the interior colour and quattro grille that is an utterly heroic bus!

The family bus/dog wagon that dreams are made of.

It's missing the V10 though. That's what made it so special.

Were there no no other wheel options? Something chunkier, something anthracite, something not diamond cut etc

twas a very special engine. Made such an awe inspiring sound when changing up! I'll never forget the sound it made, shaking our workshop while my boss was giving passenger rides up and down the industrial estate!
Mmmmmm

The Quattro grille is an added option for some reason!

Agreed though, such a good all-rounder.

Does need the V10 orchestra but doesn't sound bad at all, total thunder!

Not sure mate, not that I know of.

The RS rotors have been phased out now but they would have looked good.

Yeah I knew that grille was an option, a shocking option.

Chav spec of a hero car. Honestly. Matte and those wheels? It's not a Saxo ffs.

But hey. This is the detailing section so I'll comment on that.

Excellent stuff, Andy, although slightly perplexed at the use of illusion on the CF. Surely something more long lasting would have been appropriate?

Sorry mate, just seen this. Funny how different the reaction to the car is on here compared to DW lol, it really was epic nonetheless.

I just wanted to make it look it's best to be honest and didn't have all of my kit with me, but I thought Illusion would do it justice.

Are the wheels from Halfrauds - shocking for a flagship motor!!!!!!!!

All an opinion of course, for looks. Love the underpinnings of it.

Again, not an issue. It'll look great, just unlike you to use a "looks" LSP on something like CF!

Awesome work and a good writeup. The car is alright... wheels are gash and the interior colour doesn't look good but I doubt the owner gives a f**k.

I can't wait to see how much cars like this are worth in 10 years!

That audi garage is up the road from my partners parents second home. Nice staff they have in there, a lot nicer than the ones in the dealer near us.
