New media player...?

Currently got a wd media player(plays avi,mpeg....not mkv though..)

Most new files are mkv though....
So it'd be easier just to upgrade my media player..

Anybody bought one recently?
(I've 2.....1tb hdds and a fat tv)

Don't need wifi etc,

handbrake will convert mkv into mp4, and it's free

I've had loads and the best one for me (I only use it for mkv from a nas) is the mede8er med600x3d. Good bit of kit with a xbm type menu, plays all mkv including 3d and hd audio

depends on your budget,
but i use a shuttle slim pc, with xbmc (kodi)

I use Plex with Chromecast from my PC. Our lg TV also has a Plex app allowing playback direct to that.
