Hi people!

i have recently just joined the clio crew 6 weeks ago , i was driving home from work and the timing belt jumped!! but the dephaser pulley was on its way out anyway i dunno if this could of caused the problem? i have got a couple of prices of garages and they are costing 800+ my dad is a mechanic and im just wondering can i get all the parts off here for a cheaper price? or would it be better just forking out the 800 pound?!?

Cheers People!

£800 to rebuild your engine or replace it? Hard to say without knowing what's being done. .

Sorry to hear that - must be gutting for you! I know I'd be livid - even with the cost issue aside.

Do you know the extent of the damage yet? Might be worth tracking down a local trader on here that have the experience and specialist timing tools to take a look and better advise you on repair and rebuild or simply replace.

Welcome along, sorry to hear about your cambelt. Sounds like the seller was pond life

Like Yellow Dave says above, contact the Specialists on here as they have the knowledge and correct timing tools to do the job correctly

New (second hand) engine and fit a new cambelt kit to it out of the car may be the most cost effective way to go. Obviously depending on the damage done on your existing engine

DTM are up your way

Hey, what's a reasonable price?

Not gonna get a brand new exhaust for anything less than £330 and that's already a group-buy discounted price. Look in the group buy section for scorpion RS192.

Personally I'd wait it out in the classifieds on here. Be looking to pay £250-£270 for a used Scorpion or Ktec exhaust. Maybe a bit more for a Piper or Miltek. The Yozza or BTM exhausts (same company, newer version) are popular for their build quality & price but they're something circa £500 new so you'd do very well to get one used for your budget.

Plenty of videos on Youtube of how they sound. Pretty much everyone has a different opinion on whether each exhaust is too loud/quiet too.

I was looking at the Group buy just before tbh like im instresed in the scorpion, but what do you think? its it the best one to get?! Yozza sounds the dogs nuts! but 500 pound is expensive haha! i also want the clockwork springs and new wheels! thanks for the reply mate very helpfull!

Well I love my Scorpion RS192 with De-cat its deep and and not too boomy on low revs, raising to raspy on the top end. I would recommend it for sure.
