I presently own a

GTi​

-6, but decided I fancy something a bit newer, and when I saw the 172s going cheap I decided I fancied a 172 Cup.

I hope to be going to look at one this weekend.

I have been doing some research on this site for the last few days,and from what I understand, you can get the 172FF (assume this means full fat?) or a 172 with cup packs? (a 172 with certain things removed but not all?) or a 172 cup which has neither of the comforts or luxuries.

to look at a 'cup' but it may be a 172 with a cup pack or 2 cup packs I

Might pop down to my Renault dealer tomorrow, pass the reg number by them and see if they can tell me exactly what it left the factory as.

172 comes with all the extras (ff) or as a cup, 182 has the cup packs option.
I wouldn't trust what the Renault dealer says, all the ones i've heard of are shocking with their lack of knowledge! :S

Ahh that makes sense. Thats alright then.

Just been on the phone to my local Renault dealer with the reg, and they only have access to cars that have been either brought there or been in for work.

Was my guess of ff being full fat correct?

172 is either 172 or Cup.

Full fat is used when referring to a 182 with both cup packs.

Found a 2002 with 70k, but has had 5 owners. Is up for £2900 though. Not sure if many pop up for around that with less owners and miles or not.

I would keep looking mate, I picked up my 2002 clio sport for £2800,

1 owner , 42k miles on clock and full service history!
need slight work done on it as i had been keyed down drivers side (250 to fix) , but still a good price me thinks!!!

Have found another since. Slightly cheaper, less milage and less owners. Looked to be in better condition but needs a cambelt.

At least doing the cambelt its piece of mind, and the bodywork looks A1
