Awesome!

Despite the car only having 18k miles, make sure the cambelt has been changed. It needs doing about now.

Thanks!

Really?:S I thought just the timing belt and spark plugs need to be replaced around 18000, and 36000 miles for the cambelt instead.
In that case im wrong, how much is gonna cost?

I'll post some pics next weekend :approve:

Cambelt needs to be done every 72k or five years. Whichever comes first. As the car is five years old, it needs doing.

It's usually about £4-500 from a Specialist (there are plenty on here, depending where you're based?). Don't go to Renault (too expensive) or a local garage if you can, as it's a pig of a job, and most places will c**k it up!

Thanks man! You literally saved my life.
I didnt take that in account, btw can you recommend any Specialist within the Banbury area?

alright BTM and JMS, Anyway i think the miles are more critical than the age, i might wait till the next MOT (april 2011) to get the job done.
what do you guys think?

Its a risk you take mate. If it goes wrong it'l cost you alot more than £500. If it doesnt go wrong then you've saved the cash for 6 months.

On an engine of that mileage, it's worth looking after.

A 100k engine will be £300 second hand- nice and cheap. Probably looking at double that for an 18k 182 engine!

All in my opinion, anyway.

Point taken, I'll get car serviced asap, I really mean to look after it.
Might use that to haggle the final price down.
thanks again.

Your more than within your right to do that if it hasnt already been done. The manual clearly states age OR mileage so good luck!

Here some pics i took the day after i collected it.
It's very dirty but the body work is in very good condition.
I managed to fit the black mirror rearlights i had on the old 1.4, btw what do you think about that?is that too dark?
Plus, i bought a panel filter (BMC) but I had a quick look under the bonnet and it looks more complicated than i thought (s**t!) can anyone give me detailed instruction about how to get the air filter box open?
Looking forward to upload better pics but i need to get down some polishing first!
Cheers

Lights are okay mate, if you like them then it's cool.

Get the belt done though.

Did you haggle anything off the price?

I know it's £500 but you have a low mile car worth a lot of money to some people so it's worth spending the money to keep it up to scratch and when you want to get rid it'll be worth a lot more.

forgot to say theres been a misunderstanding between me and the dealer.
Car got service in June 2010, timing belt included.
pretty good news though.

Very good news, did you get proof?

Dealers are not to be trusted until proved otherwise imo.

he gave me all the service receipts, the previous owner looked after it very well.
I know exactly when and where the car got servicing.
