New or Re-ground Cams

Thinking bout gettin myself some cams but dunno wether to buy some 2nd hand cams & get them reground (130 quid) or to buy new cams (400 quid).

Is there gonna be a difference in performance between the 2?

Anyone running reground cams?

Cheers,

David

Go for blanks and get them machined...

My mate had his re-ground in his 306 GTi-6 and there is noticeably more of a tappet type noise than before, due to the lifters having to be pumped right up to cope with the now smaller sized cams. The lift is still the same with the re-ground cams, but the low point is lower than on a machined blank.

They made that noise on the original engine, then that died (bottom end problem) and he managed to blag a new one off Peugeot under warranty. Now the cams are in the new engine and even though its only a few months old it still makes the same tappety noise.

After this hed never go for re-ground cams and neither would I.

Cheers for the reply Rich.

Has anyone here cammed their clio/19 16v?

If so, which cams did you go for & what gains did you get?
