  Clio 172 Cup
Hi guys, paid for membership last night, still restricted forum access? (It wasn't paid by e-cheque)

Registered on here a while ago, own a standard ph2 172 cup in the best colour.

Looking to make good use of the forum and its members as you seem like a useful bunch

My first post and I get welcomed by the son of God. Cheers, I bought it due to it being standard, clean and lowish miles for its age (60k). Currently replacing the suspension, new cup shocks and top mounts on order, just choosing a set of springs. Wheels need a refurb next!

You can't ask for much more than that ;)

Are the wheels staying silver? (Please say yes... it looks so good!)

Which springs are you thinking of?

Ha, cheers, well I like them silver, I was thinking anthracite or a change but I do like them standard. I wouldn't mind a set of F1's though.

From all my searches on here I think saying anything other than eibach would go down like a lead balloon.. If I'm honest though, I was a click away from ordering some Apex as they sit how I want it to. But I'm still deciding.

Possibly sportslines but they don't quite sit how I like. They're like a in between for apex vs proline..

I want a neat minimal arch gap as I'm shallow and prefer looks over anything else..

Apex go low and sit nice - but are very crashy and uncomfy. Sportlines don't lower much but handle well, and Prolines go even less low but are regarded as the best for handling. I've had all 3!

Have you thought about a cheap set of coilovers? Do cheap ones even still exist?

I looked at coilovers, vmaxx or ktec are cheap but I don't trust the quality. They're around the mid £300's. I'd get a bit better for £500-£600

I almost bought some used spax coilovers off eBay for about £250 but they looked like they were leaking and were advertised as being on the car a month but were covered in oil or fluid and the paint had started flaking off.. Certainly not a months use so left them.

I figured new cup shocks would give me better quality than nasty cheap coilovers so I've bought some and they're delivered Monday. I just need to make my mind up on the springs before next weekend when I plan to fit them.

I was hoping to see what was in the parts for sale on here which is part reason that I bought membership. But I still can't get in there :(

Just going to jump in. People will say otherwise and will divide opinion. I have ktec coilovers. Cant fault them, excellent imo. Great quality and the ride is great, not as soft as people say.
Horses for courses and all that!

Edit: just seen youve ordered new shocks, ignore me. As you were!
Cooksport for springs imo too!

I'd of got the ktec's (will prob wish I did once I've fitted my new shocks & springs and still look at it with arch gap ocd, crying that it still doesn't sit right) but I've chosen new Oem cup shocks there's no changing my mind now :weary:

Well cooksports will sit the car nicely, coilovers make my ocd worse. Have to be mm perfect. Will look good, making me want silver wheels, bored of anthracite!

Looks lovely!
