Well, after a few years and many different motors I now have another Clio. Although my last one was strictly track, this one is a little more tame.
‘04 black 182 with the cup pack collected this morning. 197 cams, milltek decat and non res (May need a res section but will see…) and Lowered. Forgot how much fun these little things are😈

It’s no show car, but needed to scratch the itch seen as I only work 3.7 miles away from home and the Mrs has a Q5 as the child wagon…

HELP….
Immobiliser light is showing constant red on the dash and I can hear a beeping from behind the clocks. If I put the key in and turn straight away it will turn over but won’t fire. If I wait for the other lights to go out on the dash it won’t start at all.
The remote has a new a new battery in, I have disconnected the battery terminals. Locked, unlocked, tried the spare key but nothing.
nothing has changed from when I parked it up Saturday night until this morning…
Can any one help please????

Hmmmm...Solid red LED means the key is valid and authorised to start, but there is obviously something else at fault.

A proper diagnostic check will say for sure. Have you tried removing the crank position sensor and given it a clean?

Cleaning it won't make a faulty sensor work of course, but worth a try.

Could be UCH related, bad earth...........

I had this same problem on my old 182 but it was intermittent. A new battery sorted it for me.

Hmm.. will put the wife’s car to it tonight on a set of leads, see if that puts some more power through the battery. Thanks lads!

I had a solid red light on mine earlier in the year. I spent ages trying to figure out what the issue was, in the end I took it to a specialist who found the problem almost straight away.

It was a damaged wiring in the loom connected to the ECU, it had somehow had the outer cover damaged and the inside had just rotted away to nothing resulting in the ECU not getting power. Replaced the cable and it sorted it.

Definitely great advice. A good specialist will have most issues diagnosed in an afternoon.

Managed to get it running yesterday. Checked all earths and they seemed fine, checked all fuses and the white plug of doom were in tight - just gave everything a wiggle basically!!
with the jump leads on it sparked in to life. Started perfect this morning too after being left all night after the initial start.. very strange! But at least it’s running now.
thanks everyone for the advice!
