New router/modem recommendations

  Nike Lunar Elite's
The modem supplied by my broadband company (blueyonder) is offically s**t, its constantly cutting out, meaning I have to cut the power to it and then fire it up again (a major pain when downloading).

As I've finally got my hands on an Xbox 360 I'm gonna want to get it online for Xbox Live.

I'm gonna need a combined router and modem, with 2 ports.

What do people recommend I get, and anywhere cheap to look?

Plus, If I change the modem, do I need to speak to Blueyonder to get it setup?

Before you BUY a new modem / router are you sure that's the problem?

My parents tried 3 different ones in their mammoth fault finding task and had BT out approx 8 times. They would get disconnected at any time of day and see speed reductions at night. Turned out it was BT equipment in a field somewhere at fault. Took 6 months for them to track the fault and fix it.

If you get a router/modem then usually all you need to enter is your username and password. If anything else needs changing it will probably be listed in the Support section of your ISP's website.

Edit: Isn't blueyonder cable? In which case you can't actually buy a cable modem router as far as I know. You could use a router with the cable modem though and you can't buy cable modems separate from the ISP (again as far as i know?)

no you can buy cable routers with modems built in. Few companies have cable / adsl routers all built into 1 box.

Really? where from!

I've never seen one for sale, in shops or online.

Cable routers yes obviously but not a cable modem or router with cable modem built in.

As far as i was aware you can buy them in the US but not in the UK. Something to do with the cable companies owning the rights to something or other.

Yep, am sure its the modem as its a known fault with the unit I've got, it drops out when it has multiple connections open at once.

Blueyonder is cable, and I do need a cable modem, and thats the problem as the connections are different and I've never seen any for sale which are the same.
