New to the forum an picking up my 197 next week

  BMW 1 Series 123d,
Hi all,

I'm new to the forum and new to Renault after sticking predominantly in the German car market for a quite a while. However when i decided i wanted a hot hatch, and did the research, i couldn't look much further than a 197.

I pick it up my 2006 Nimbus Grey 197 on saturday after doing a private deal and paying my deposit last week. It has a few mods an seems to be ingreat nick, although the current owner has only had it 3 months and seems to be getting rid as they need to free up some cash. Mods are as followes:

-custom Cat back exhaust
-IPG air filter
-bluefin superchip
-privacy glass
-cup spoiler
-18" matt black alloys

I had the guy MOT it this weekend and it passed but with two advisories

1. Play in the n/s anti roll bar drop link
2. Slight play in the o/s ball joint

After a quick look it looks like these would be cheap repairs, but would be great to get some advice.

Cheers all, and i'll get pictures up when i have the car!

Be wary.

The front suspension ball joints are an integral part of the stub axle assembly, to replace them, you have to replace the entire assembly.

My 200 failed its MOT a couple months ago because of this, price from Renault to rectify was over £900 to fix both sides.

The parts are £200 + VAT per side, and labour for both sides combined was 4.5 hours.

That said, you said slight wear/play so you could be fine...but you could be looking at a potential £1,000 bill come MOT time.

  BMW 1 Series 123d,
Thanks,

It did say 'slighty play' i believe the feedback fron the MOT tester was that they may even get through another MOT next year, depending on how the car is driven.
