new tv's

after ordering 2 different tv's then calling off the orders im thinking of actually buying one this time but im just worrying it may be too small

im looking at getting the tosh 32wlt66 can get it for 749!! but the seat is about 9ft away and im not too sure if thats a bit far for a 32 and if id be better off going for the 37 thats about 1200 tho

so how far do you sit away from your 32" sets (flat tv's only) and whats it like for you ??

haha - its ok but you can't read teletext and if you have Sky/Freeview you can't read the information stuff.

I'm probably 7ft from my 32" lcd and the size and picture are great. Alot of it depends on the size of your room. I sometimes wish I'd bought a 37" because my room is big and the TV can look small due to that. My mum also has a 32" lcd tv and in her room it looks huge.

si i did have one on order but decided 2154 was too much to spend lol

the room isnt small its a livingroom but its across the narrow part of the room on a its about 5 meters long by 3.5-4 wide

kinda like this red would be tv blue is patio black box is sofa

damn you and you costing me 500 or so more or f**k it should i just get a 32 for the mo see how it goes for a year or so then buy a reasonably priced 1080p panel when they actually become cheapenough to buy without a re mortgage

That's also a good option. A 32" will do the job and I'm more than happy with my own. My placement in the room is similar to yours and due to the empty space either side of my TV that's why I feel it can look small. The screen size for viewing is fine, far better than my old 28" tv.

Get a projector for the cinema stuff and buy a TV (32" or less) for Top Gear. Job done.

As someone who's been researching and buying lately, I can recommend the Samsung 74 series, which is fairly cheap and latest generation.

mike im too close to project really and dont want to spend 2k on a projector

the 360 isnt that good as a dvd imho it only does progressive not any upscaling that im aware of

£992 for a Panasonic AE-900, can create a screen between 50" and 150" - as long as you're not watching in direct sunlight, you should be fine!!

I do see the attraction of a non-projected image though, and I've been forced to bite the bullet and buy a TV as well.

mike if i had a dark room with a big wall that i could dedicate id have a pj but as its a living room and for use all day lcd wins hands down

Then theres the annoying fan noise on projectors to contend with, and for HD there just isn't the quality for projectors yet imo.

If you have good eyes then a 32" will be fine.

I sit just over 8ft from my 32" and its fine providing your eyes are Ok.

For big shizzle I just bring out the HD projector :)

Fan Noise from a Projector should not be an issue when playing games, watching a film as the volume is up.

As for quality have you seen a HD Ready projector in a decent setup (Room wise)

I run my Denon DVD player through the HDMI on my Hitachi 200 PJ and the image is stunning, and huge!
