They extra money Ktec have added on gives you some peace of mind, the knowledge that if they do go wrong they are at the end of the phone to help.

My set that I bought on ebay for less also have a 2 year warranty, but obviously I'd have to probably remove from the car and send back to Germany after firing off a few emails.

You pays your manoey, you takes your choice, except perhaps you don't, because i'm not sure they're available on ebay anymore.

:)

I totally agree with the 'piece of mind' and probably would have bought from K-Tech for the little extra if this was available sooner, but mine were shipped on Wednesday.

I have a set of 182 cup pack ktrs, when fitting i noticed the 60mm holes looked as if they had been added later maybe even in house at ktr. Would this not be offered with the racelands?

We will certainly look into this when we receive the stock. We will of course test and check quality before any product leaves us.

Sean.

Just to be clear, I was simply trying to find out if these had been 'assessed' by K-Tec now as that isn't obvious to me.

K-Tech are a reputable company and by offering their own coilovers, they throretically know what they are talking about.

My posts were really to see if they had been assessed and then a subsequent decision on the quality of these made.

I was just wanting to know what had happened in the time between the two posts I quoted.

Where are these unanswered questions? and where are the coincidences then Tom? What exactly are you trying to say?

Sean.

My post was in response to Scott S. (didn't quote in time) I'm not trying to say anything, just giving an opinion.

You posted about these Coilovers potentially being poor quality, despite this they still generated lots of interest and a few people bought them.

Then they suddenly dissapear from eBay and then you have managed to secure stock and offer up a group buy.

You tell me how it looks?

I don't want to sould like I am pulling out the wooden spoon but..... what has changed between the first and second post?

Have these been 'tested in house' and found to be of suitable quality?

Are the ones K-Tech are selling somehow different. as in same make, different spec? Not talking about K-Tech Coilovers v Raceland coiloers here, just raceland from ebay v raceland from K-Tech.

What is the difference in warranty? (other than a point of contact and a different address to send them back to is there are any issues)

It does seem a little strange. You can only assume that ktec have thoroughly tested the product in question and that this particular kit was not one of the "cheap ebay" kits with "numerous warranty issues" otherwise ktec wouldn't supply them.

Right?

From my point of view a set of coils turn up vastly cheaper than the KTR ones they physically look identical, Ktec claim that internally they are inferior & that they looked at them and decided not to sell them as it "wasn't worth the warranty claims".

Then a few weeks later they offer a group buy and are planning to stock them. They are no longer avalible through ebay. Coincidence ? you tell us.

I also didn't like the tone of the message suggesting we keep our comments and thoughts on Ktecs pricing to ourselfes.

It's a free country and if I wish to speculate upon a companies pricing I shall do so.

Bad mouth a product you later supply.

Brilliant business sense. I wouldn't buy them on principle.

agreed although its a good buisness opportunity for Ktec, i think they may have been better sticking to there original claims.
They may have lost a couple of sales on there KTR coilovers but none of this would have started

We will of course assess the product upon it's arrival. But of course Cliosport members, like yourself have been trying and testing them for a few weeks now, so you guys can't be wrong can you?

A new product has been brought to our attention, thats part of the reason we are on the forum, for you and for us. Rest assured though, if we are not happy with them, we won't sell them.

Davids original post was not aimed at the kit in question, it was concerning unbranded, manufacturer direct suspension kits. Items such as these we receive on a regular basis. Speaking from previous experience does not constitute a sweeping comment about this particular kit. As i've stated here before, you guys seem happy with them, surely for us it's worth a look?

Thanks for getting back to me. I'm holding off fitting mine (I don't 'need' them as my suspension is ok) for a few weeks as I have no space in my garage so hopefully some further (although, there has been a lot of positive comments and reviews so far) comments will be useful.

Also, when I posted the two quotes, I initially thought "These" referred to the Raceland ones, not 'generic unbranded coilovers'. Reading it back, I can see how it could be viewed either way.

Guys, there's clearly a high demand for these... K-tec are actually helping us by providing a much easier route to buying them!

Perhaps leave the negative remarks, and see them for what they are:
A cheap coilover kit which can now be supplied by a reputable UK tuner with a 2 year UK warranty.

jon r, mine are on route from germany at the moment, can you tell me the exeact setup you have with no rubbing as my setup is very similar, i have a ph2 172 + standard 16" alloys with no spacers, the only difference is i am going to use the raceland dampers but you have used gaz iirc. What are tour heights in terms of thread? Thanks

No really a favour, Fudgey. They're a business. They're aim is to make money. Which is fair enough.

But if you **** off a product because it's harming your sales, it does look very bad when you suddenly start stocking said product and it stops becoming available elsewhere. With their own price hike.

It might be good for their profit but it's not for their reputation.

Hi there, just using the gaz's on the back and thats all set to minimum height.

I can't tell you in terms of thread amounts without getting the wheel off again, but from the arch on the front wing to the ground its 57.5 cm's, or 23 inches. With me in the car this seems fine at the mo, though I suspect it might be still settling and I'll have to adjust again.

My only gripe with them is the softness of the fronts, but hopefully a change in springs will resolve the issue.

Revels, This particular kit was not commented upon, as I said in my earlier post, David made reference to kits we had previously received unbranded for our assessment. If Raceland have done their homework on this kit and are happy with it, it is their brand and we will sell them as such. Positive reviews from owners on this forum means we are happy to stick our toe in the water.

By bringing them into the UK, we have to sell them in accordance with UK Consumer law, the Germans do not have the same laws, your protection is not the same, ok you may save a few quid, but i'm sure most people are more confident when purchasing from within the UK IF something does go wrong.

Sean.

Morning guys,

Not had a chance to read this whole thread as we have been at the Autosport Show for the last 5 days.

Over the past few months we have seen a couple of cheap coilover kits for the 172 which have been sent to us with a view to us selling them. All I can say is that these were returned to the manufacturers and we left it at that as we did not want to be dealing with the inevitable warranty issues that would have come from these kits.

There is a alot more to a suspension kit than its overall appearance and at the end of the day there will always be cheaper versions of the superior product available (tyres, brakes pads etc). We are very pleased with our own kit, we feel it is very well priced and we are happy to offer our own 2 year guarantee on it. I would not be so happy about buying an unknown kit from an unknown supplier in a foreign country. As the old saying goes "buy cheap, buy twice".

David.

It's there in black and white, Sean. Said by David.

You can try and say he meant others but I don't think anyone believes that.

I don't think anyone blames you guys for what you're doing. You're a business, not a charity. You've just gone about it all wrong IMO.

But the warranty from you will be better so people can still have cheap suspension with back up if they go wrong..

Yeah I have to say that's part of the reason why I'm just going to buy the KTR coilovers - or maybe after reading this whole thread get Gaz or something instead

It's fairly clear that when people started buying these that KTR slagged the kit off implying it would fail quickly and they didn't want to deal with the warranty issues from it

Now everyone's started buying them - KTR are the sole UK distributor and are saying the warranty is worth the extra money LOL..

Before this thread there was no UK distributer, now there is. You can't expect a large tuning company to match prices with an auction site, that's just rediculous.

Everyone's moaning about how long they take to come from Ebay Germany with bad communication etc. K-Tec have given us the option to buy quickly with a UK warranty and point of contact. If you'd rather buy from Ebay, then off you go.

That's perfectly valid - and lots of people have said it's worth the extra £40 for the UK stock and warranty

What's a bit off is that KTec were slagging the product off saying it was poor quality and wouldn't last - and then a week later start selling it

Nail --> head.

It's swings and roundabouts IMO.

Either pay less money to get them from Germany, which will take ages to arrive and they'll have a lesser warranty period

Or

Buy from the UK distributor for slightly more money, but get them within a couple of days (or fetch them yourself) and have a 2 year warranty. Plus a point of contact should any problems arise.

This is what everyone is discussing, not that Ktec are charging slightly more. (which is understandable)

I bought mine from Germany and also have a 2 year warranty. I also received mine in 6 days (4 working days) from order and have has all my emails answered within 2 - 3 hrs.

I know the ebay guy is no longer involved, but lets give him all the credit he deserves. IMO it was an excellent service he was offering.

TBH were all getting a good deal!

So are these kits still on ebay or available from the original german supplier? It doesn't matter to me if its distributed from Dorset or Germany its still gonna need taking off and boxing for any warranty claims, so I'd rather save the extra £40. Thanks
