New user: Wiring

  1.4 Clio Alize, Volvo S40
Hi there, I've just got a Renault clio MTV (MY00) for my sisters 18th birthday and ordered her a stereo. Ive got the wiring all ok, but they reckon i'll have to take the dash aprt to get to the plug for the clock display. Is this correct?

depending on stereo u may have to yes.
To be honest there int many that you dont have to take the dash off to wire the stalk controls upto...

Depends on the stalk adapter you use, the autoleads one requires you to take the dash top off but the incartec one doesn't.

its a pioneer deh4800, the one with ipod connectivity. I've got all the autoleads connectors etc, and done about 10 installs before inc. wiring up rear speakers etc.

If its the autoleads one then the dash top has to come off unfortanetly. Its not overly difficult just a pain in the arse.

Cool, I was looking at some reviews and cant make out what kind of interoperability i can expect, does the remote work the same? what about the display? (I've never done an install on a car with a remote control or display - newest one so far has been my own 2000 Volvo S40 )

The remote will work similarly to the way it did before but its different with different hu's and different adapters. The display probably won't work anymore, the autoleads adapter I put in my mates astra just shows a blank screen now. The incartec shows a few basic things on the display but its nothing groundbreaking.

I did it, took me 2 hours in all, but i had to buy a haynes manual to figure what to take apart. The instructions the came with the auto leads adapter were SH1T. I'd post pics but i can figure out how to.
