new wheels...will they fit??

hi guys! been offered some 17" wheels by a mate, off his corsa. as far as i know corsa wheels will fit clio's, so i jumped at the chance!
but.. there seems to be some debate over wheel size on this forum. will 17's fit?? surley they must.. its a 1.4 si, mark 2 phase1 i think(y plate.)
the tyres are 205/40/17. not entirely sure what that means tho...lol.
what wud be required to cram em on??

depends on 2 things, 1; the offset ET?? and 2; the stud pattern, PCD is 100 on the Clio iirc

PCD is correct at 4x100

BUT the offset will be wrong, you'll be needing 5mm spacers at least

how do you know the offset will be wrong? are corsa's considerably different?

ive just got some 7x17 with an offset of ET40 fitted mine okay, im down 40mm on Apex and it only catches slightly on the fronts on full lock. What do you have to remove to stop this Fred?

These were actually ordered for a Guy with a Corsa but he never went back to pay for them so i grabbed a bargain, hence the post here.
