ive just got off the phone to Sportex, next week a new exhaust (back box only - system will be developed shortly) will be available for a 2002 1.2 16v (may fit other models, but not sure)

no pics yet, but when its on ill post pics, its gonna be a twin 3" back box



price will be around £90-£100

afetr having a powerflow exhaust on mu Uno TB i vowed NEVER to go to a company that makes custom exhausts - it produced the wrong note, fitted poorly and the welds were of very poor quality (may just have been my luck, but im not prepared to risk it again)

i dont really need a full system as the 1.2 is not exactly a performance engine and i will probably only own the car 18-24 months - in which time i very much doubt the standard centre section is going to corrode, even if it does its not expensive to replace

but so do piper, magnex and scorpion, but none of them are prepared to develop a twin 3" tail for me, thats why sportex got a call

silly question but.........can u actually get just a Back Box for the 1.2 16v? When i had a look at the standard exhaust it looked like the back box was just part of the pipe that went to the cat - it is the cat that is in the centre isnt it?????? Do DEVIL do an exhaust for the 1.2 16v????? Id like a devil......or Magnex......but the must never update their website! lol........cheers all

It has to be cat back because the standard pipe is one whole pipe from your cat... I had to saw my one off....... plus the k-tec one has a bigger diameter so just the back box wont fit

you can, but as yet im not sure if you have to butcher the standard system or not (like you have to on a saxo) - ill be able to give you an exact answer shortly



havent spoke to Devil, but magnex (still) deny making a twin 3" for the Clio

If you want just a backbox, you have to cut the old one off

BTW Magnex do make a twin 3inch for the clio but its for tthe 172 (wont fit on the 1.2 16v, cos the pipe is a different larger bore)

whats the k-tec system like for the car then????? has it got a low bassy note at idle???? i want something that will sound smooth......and make the 1.2 sound a bit better when its having some rather than the standard tiiny-ness..........I know magnex have nice rumbles........what about Devils???? Notice how there is a mega bend over the axle on the standard exhaust? do aftermarket systems have to go this way also? Cheers all, Rob

Rob - on the 172 the k-tec is just mental, low rumble on tickover, rolling up through the rev range from grumble,growl,roar upto a scream!

But the only word you ever need to use to describe mine is LOUD!

Its a fantastic piece of kit

I have the oval system and am very happy with it.... its got just the right noise just makes me want to drive round in second all the time

Steve..whats the oval pipe like????? Magnex do a 6x4 and a small oval.......my mate has a small oval on his 206 and it looks smart.......id fancy the oval for mine! I guess the K-Tec is Stainless Seel....and bolts on at the back of the cat? ta, Rob

I think it looks the nuts... It fits easy onto the back of cat there is one of those sh*tty clamp things.... then Its all adjustable so you can fit it tight up the exhaust channel... I was quite impressed with my fitting job, needs 2 people though unless your skilled. You do get a little bit of performance gain out of it to.... It Revs much easier... Just makes a 1.2 16v a little bit more fun until you have the no claims for a 172 lol

......thats what we want! something to make us smile till we build the NCD!!!! Does the system have the mega bend over the axle? or has it a different route?? Think i may have to get saving a bit!!!! Wonder what the insurance would say about a SS system......hmmm

Yes it comes in two pieces... the pipe comes off CAT then bends slightly at other end.... then the back box is bent in much the same way as the standard exhaust and just fits straight on. Now when you look under my car the pipe follows the exhaust shielding exactly but its a nice stainless system hmmmmmmmm I did not tell any theifing insurance tossas

Being 17 it would actually be cheaper to not insure it and pay for a new one if it got fooked up.
