Newbie - After some DCI info!!

  Clio DCI
Firstly hi everyone, Im new to the forum, from hinckley and 21. (still a kid haha).

Anyways i used to own a 53plate modded 1.2 8v Clio Dyn, which i later sold and regretted a lot!! So now im after a clio DCI.

Could anyone tell me the difference between the 3 engines, as i have been looking at the 65 80 an 100 bhp options. Looking for a clio for 2002 onwards and looking to spend £3300 (which is tight i know).

I would prefer the 100 or the 80 bhp versions, but these seem to be rare as hell, or all with over 100K mileage...

Ive done a bit of browsing through the forums and i believe that the 80bhp one has a better gear box, and apparently you can get it tuned up to near the 100bhp if not over.

I was looking at these on ebay, has anyone tried them rather than having a remap, as the remaps are quite a lot more £££ wise..

Also finally, is it possible to fit a dump valve to the car at all, ive seen them for diesels in the past, and universal diesel dump valves, but was wondering if one could be fitted to a DCI engine.

Any advice would be appreciated!! Cheers All!

Don't think you'll get a 80 or 100 for 3.3k unless its done mega miles or is CAT D etc, should be plenty of early 60s to choose from.

Those plug in chip things aren't supposed to be worth bothering with and please please don't even think about fitting a dump valve to a dCi, for start you'll look like the biggest tosser on earth and it'll start confusing the management anyway.

lol the dump valve was a mates idea, suppose it would sound a bit sh1t lol, anyone have any idea how much a remap is likely to be then on a 80?

He speaks the truth.

For that price your looking at a decent DCI 65 Dynamique I'd say. The bloke wanted £4500 for mine (DCI 80 2003 Model, with xenons, CC) and 69k on the clock, told him the cambelt needed doing, few other little bits, and we agreed on £3800 after he had got a quote for all the work. Just to compare it if you want.

In a nutshell...

65 - The most common out of the 3 options, best out of the 3 for MPG, and probably the best workhorse (less to go wrong). Remapped will be quicker than a standard 80. Autocar or someone got over 100MPG in one of these doing a constant 56mph. Watch a few of Eddes videos to see what they can do lol.

80 - Less common, basically these have got an intercooler slightly different turbo, and different injectors, and a bit more grunt than the 65s. Remapped you'll be pushing 1.6 Clios, clapped out VTRs around.

100 - Not rare as such but hard to fine. Choclate gearbox out the 1.6/1.8 petrol laguna. Again, different intercooler, turbo different etc. Feels slower than a standard 80 due to gear ratios being a bit crap, remap sorts it.

mileage on a diesel doesnt matter as much as a petrol - Diesels last forever
I woulnd't like to buy a massive high milage ie over 150k dci realy modern diesel can have expensive problem with the high pressure injectors.

There not ideal or safe IMo most of them.

Dump valves though as you said don't work on diesels.

100 has a slightly stronger bearings as well.
