Re: New winter project

The story so far. The car belongs to a new friend. He used to run a body shop and was doing this full respray for a customer. Customer fell on bad times and cudnt finish or pay the bill so far so paid with the vehicle
I have purchased it in this condition to put my own stamp on it
Im told its running 190bhp although no proof. Remapped by some sunderland company. I will be emailing them to see there is a history
my plans obviously full spary in a grey colour. Im liking mini cooper s grey. I will be replacing timing belt kit and giving it a good old service

more to come soon................

Re: New winter project

Been looking round the car trying to drink it in. Ive been looking on projects and saw a graphite grey 172 and love it. At the minute im not in love with the alloys and the exhaust is abit "young laddy" for my taste.
I will probably refurb the alloys black to compliment the grey. Thinking grey and black theme for this one. Anybody know if these alloys are any good or cheapo. Also if i decided to remove the exhaust is it worth anything? Cheers

New winter project

Wheels and exhaust are worth nothing on here. It's not what this site approves of! Lol.

You'll probably get £250 for the alloys and £60+ for the exhaust on eBay though!

Re: New winter project

Ha i know what you mean. There really not my cup of tea. I favour the standard look when it comes to wheels and exhaust.

Didnt realise the alloys were worth as much as that. I think they will definately be ebay bound. Cheers

Re: New winter project

Bit of an update. After spending the last week or so in the freezing tenerife 28 degree heat i was happy to get back to the soaring 4 degrees of the uk.
i decided today was the day to get the timing belt out of the way. I have done the odd renault timing belt before although not a f4r so i expected it to be tricky. Understatement to say the least. Much respect to renault techs coz these cars are crap to work on. Take bmw all day over these things. Anyway al bob a few pics up

First things first the car seemed to bit abit lumpy which i wasnt too concerned about however i think i found why
timing of the exhaust camshaft with the crank pin in

then off with the old

on with the new

Re: New winter project

Im still abit undecided on the colour of the car. A grafite grey is a maybe but im toying with maybe the mk3 storm grey. Think it could look sick on the mk2. If anyones seen one post me a link coz im eager to see one

Re: New winter project

Storm grey would be epic, but if you had to pay 70 quid for plugs normal price then you would be getting royally shafted.

Re: New winter project

Bit of an update. Not much doing with this over last few months was just stored due to christmas and a family illness. Anyway got some paint finally on her.

Re: New winter project

Aye storm grey. I havnt seen it in person think it looks a little light on the pics but im sure itll look top in person. Apparently its getting some serious interest at the bodyshop. Real love it/hate it situation there.

  TTRS & V50
Good progress.

Storm grey is definitely a love/hate colour - love here.

Have you not sold those alloys and exhaust yet !!

  Bmw e92 335d
Cheers for comments guys. Im goin through this weekend to have a real look.
And no havnt sold them yet although the replacement alloys and exhaust are here.

Quick cheeky update. Got my doors back today and even the blizzard couldnt stop me fitting them so i battled with the snow to get them on then swiftly back into the garage. (The garage is not big enough to fit them). This pic shows the colour abit better

This is looking ace. I used to love o.z. Superturismos but I seem to have gone off them a bit :(

fyi, the only reputable tuner I know of in sunderland was manic motors in boldon, they used to be popular with the saxo boys, unsure of whether they divulged in Clio's, so I'd take the 190bhp with a pinch of salt lol

Thanks for the comments guys. Yeah ive totally given up on the guys claims. I got 2nd hand info cams were fitted but when i changed the cambelt nothing gave me the impression anything was changed so i reckon he was just a dreamer or something. Besides which im putting engine mods on the back burner until after bodywork. In fact will probably stick with the standard power

Bit of work c/o in the blistering heat today. God damn the garage for being so small. So out she went again. My daily drive was screaming -1 degrees from its smug little face on the instrument cluster as if to say " you goin out in this lad? Good luck with that"
Still waiting for the rest of my panels to get back from spray shop so i thought great time to crack on with the springs. And found some caliper paint sat at work so i swiftly nabbed that. Heres the results.

A teddy bear for anyone who spots where i knocked the pot of paint over

some more work tomorrow including the stupid bolt removal. Jeez im too old for this. More to come guys

  Bmw e92 335d
Bit more work today. Drilled the snapped bolt out and got my wings back. Swiftly fitted these along with the headlights. Put some 182 alloys on i bought for the time being as the turinis require rubber. Heres the latest
Suspension still looks slightly high but i think it will settle a few more milimetres in time
