Nicks Turbo.

Allright Nick its Matt here the lad who is also having a Turbo conversion at B.B, have you any idea when you are getting your car back from them as mine has been there since late last year but am hoping it is in the next few weeks cheers

Matt (phase 2 16v Turbo)

P.S I really cant wait much longer:D

will it not just be a torque steering disaster... that burns rubber like its going out of fashion? Im not sure about conversions i mean there hardly extensively tested are they

hesh why they only run 16psi mate. the turbo can take a lot more. They advise not to run over that because of the what u said.

The turbo has been running for over 6 months now. It drove all the way to trax and back while they were still developing it. BB running wouldnt sell it unless they were happy with it hesh there good rep

172 Man & 2 live get your facts right before you start riping into modifications and conversions that people are having done speak to Nick Read im sure he will set you straight as he has forgot more about Clios than you two both know put together:mad:

The Turbo conversion has had extensive testing for over a year and every aspect of the conversion has been looked into, the car has been set up for road and track use with B.Bs years of experience, and know it wont be getting through gearboxs and driveshafts(as i dont drive like a tw*t) and am quite offended that i dont even know you yet you are talking about something you know FU** All about now dont comment again, unless it is posotive OK!!!!!!!!!!!

got to remember that you cant tell a persons mood when they reply. I read them as questions more than out and out critisims, i think people need to remember that on forums as this is how arguements start and people are offended for no real reason.

A straight reply could have answered that one without the need for aggressive text?

Still worth it if it does wear the gearbox, driveshaft, blarr, blarr, blarr, a little more than it would otherwise, and i think if theres any tuning company u can trust its BB for sure.

I want mine Turbod to dude. Im really glad a few people are doin it, hope the price comes south a little first though. ;)

A turbos really gonna make anyone cherish their 16v. Well in Nick & Cherished 16v.

LOL theres one for Jon. I think Mikeys said it all. 172man - if I wanted to drive a 172 and sit at home worrying about torque steer then thats what Id do...Ive spent far more money and time on my valver than a 172 would ever have cost, so just trust me that I know what Im doing. :)

To get back to the original point of the thread, the reason why our cars are not ready yet is because BB will not let a car out on the road that is a bodge, like all the other turbo conversions out there. There is huge pressure on BB (not from me cos Ive got an old banger to drive around in the meantime) to get these Clio turbos out on the road to show all the doubters whats what. But they are not ready yet, so they are not out on the road, simple as that.

There is a backlog of people wanting it done, this year everyone on the road is gonna be caned by turbo valvers when they least expect it! But Mikey I think if youre hoping the price will come down you better forget that idea...obviously there are economies of scale and after the first few it may reduce by a few hundred quid, but at the end of the day there are a lot of parts involved that cost money which you cant get around if you want a proper job. The labour cost isnt a lot, its the parts. My advice is start saving now!:D

BTW Matt, Im hoping itll be ready in the next couple of weeks, latest is that pretty much everythings there, my inlet manifolds still being polished and I just got my rocker cover chromed so thats ready to go back on.

There you go. 2 reasonable questions asked about a subject 172Man obviously isnt too sure about, else he would have just ripped into the conversation without the question marks.

Thats what I cherish most about this forum. You can ask doubting questions on a subject and get a pleasant answer to help you learn and understand a bit more.

ClioSport is a great club.

cherished mate what can i say?

nick has gone this route because he wants the fastest clio in the uk.........nearly all the routes hes tried so far have been fairly fruitless in his attempts to beat me.. ask him hell tell ya.

and as for rippin into mods n convs that ppl are having, again i thought this was a forum that encouraged ppl to air their OWN OPINIONS

i understand then that from my totally out of order and incorrect comments that all that xtra bhp adds no more strain to the drivetrain at all soory my mistake

HAHAHAHAHAHA

chill out fella

and dont forget there are those of us who know quite a lot about clios that tend not to air their views for this same reason, people talkin sh*t about other people that they dont even know, and dismissing any intelligent remarks that they bring with them.

and 1 for paddy LOL

LOL Jon you got some front mate, Ill say that for you, its *you* thats playing catch up with *me*, I dont see your timing tickets anywhere near 14.48 my friend! ;)Youre right about one thing though...I *have* tried all sorts of mods but I wouldnt say theyve been fruitless...I still dont believe that yours is a standard 2.0 either. One of these days you should get your engine apart and measure those cams, that is no way standard.:D

Still, he who dares wins, well see whats what at the dragstrip this season...

ohhh I think this is gonna be better than bonfire night!! Clash of the titans!!!

whens the next drag meeting!!

whatever visceral, we all know what drag you meant!;), as for this whole Nick or Jon being faster thing, Jons will be a N/A car and nicks will be forced, so there is no need to compare. Infact, dont want to stir things up, but from what i have read/heard etc. when nick ran his famous 14.48 he was using nitrous, which again means it is unfair to compare to N/A cars, namely Jons.

lol bit harsh.

Fact is the turbo will increase strain on the engine and box. Ive heard BB Tuning uprates a lot of other engine components to improve reliabilty, though i agree, compared to a normal valver its going to be less reliable. Just because someone doesnt know as much about clios isnt important, its basic mechanical principles.

its also common sense! however much work BB do, it will just make the engine more reliable, not the car! valver gearboxes are known to be weak and im sure that even the thought of all that torque and power will have them sh*tting there cogs. diff, brakes and gearboxes are only a few items that BB have not addressed, i know because i was seriously close to getting the conversion. there demo car does NOT run a standard gearbox, drive shafts or diff, thats for a reason. suppose all we can do is wait and see, but the word bang pops to mind!

f**k it another few grand will get you a sadev unit

sequential boxed clio turbo anyone?

0-60 in under 6 secs?

personally I would have thought there would be problems too, I mean, and I MAY be wrong, but I was advised by a Renault dealer not to buy a Willy with a sunroof if I intended to up the power cos they aint that strong? Is this right? Seems a bit daft!

Guess Im just getting old and want a car that goes well from standard that I can crash and get out alive in (I have had some pretty awful crashes, none my fault!)

Good luck to the turbo boys, you will love the sound of the dump valve every gearchange!

DUMP VLAVE: Rrrrrrrrrrrrr, tcssss, Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, tcssss, Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, tcsss.

Lovely. ;)

I want a turbo for that reason alone (nearly only that reason, but 175bhp sounds good to). :D  :devilish:

I think there will be problems without a doubt but if people dont do it then they will never iron them out. Ive spent all my car time on the RS scene up until now and there always are problems when you get to a certain power with certain things blowing up or breaking. That many people mod RSs its generally easy to know what to uprate before hand for a certain power. Reliability can be the biggest sacrafice with bigger power. I would have thought quite a few turbo conversions would have been done by now with the 16v being out for 10 years? I looked into turboing a RS1800 Fiesta (same era as 16v clio) or a RS2000 Escort before going for the Williams but the cost of £2-4k would never be regained when sold.
