Im working in london till thursday evening then will be driving back home to taunton, and was planning on taking the mrs RS2'd 172 out to finish running the engine in when I got back (only built it last weekend), so I will just do so driving to your place rather than driving around randomly like I was going to be doing.

Like I said though, if your TB is knackered, I dont have a spare one so you will need to get one. If you have it by thursday I will fit it for you then (its very easy though I can show you what to do if you havent got one by then)

sounds like the electrical plug isnt plugged into the throttle body, my 197 did this when i forgot to plug it in.

It will either be that, or a faulty TB (like if he put the inlet down a bit quick and shocked it or whatever) as they are quite fragile and its obviously not exactly had the work done on it so far by an expert so might have got damaged in the process. I'll check connections first and if its all installed ok I will try swapping on the replacement one he said he is getting hold of.
Only slight issue might be I wont have anything to reset the code with, so it might need the battery leaving off to reset the TB code, not sure as only time Ive needed to do it before mike cleared the code with his snapon gear as he was handy at the time anyway.
