NO OIL!

  320d
Well clio's do have an oil ok thing when you put the ignition on, if it doesnt come on then you have a problem and you sort it out before driving.....

  Range Rover sport
had a few problems a day or so ago! with oil etc!
engine cutting out at 3500rpm, oil level topped up and running fine!

tested it out on a quiet road where i could put my foot down and had no problems what so ever!

but ....

driving home from the gf s this morning to find the same problem!
driving sensably for about 20 miles or so .. someone crawling infront so over took changed down to third and at 5000rpm or so its cut out! :S how can it change from 3500 to 5000??

i mean otherwise it runs perfect no horrible noises, no oil leaks etc ..

phoned renault up soon as i got home and tbh they had no idea! spoke to 2 people and niether had a clue what it was! they said they have never had this problem before in the 'however many years theyve been working there for'

someone suggested coilpack or something yesterday? what is this exacly and what does it do? located where on a 1.2 16v??

plus , sorry to have seemed rude on the 'NO OIL' thread was justed abit pissed off! problem after problem with this car!

Thanks

Coil pack produces the spark to the fuel and air, if this is faulty it will stop sparking sporadically and cut out. Get it changed or tested.

ok thank you! in this case would this coilpack .. cause it to cut out at any amount of revs! wouldnt be the same all the time?

This thread is a sign!

I've noticed in mine today that when I started it up I got the oil warning light. Next time I started it, on the same level ground it was ok, but I pressed the button to see the level and it said 50%, so from low to 50% on the same incline = Renault electrics. I had already decided I would manually check the dipstick before driving it again, but this thread has jogged my memory big time!

PS yours was just low level on the stick. The pressure warning lamp should come on if there is actually any starvation, and it wouldn't cut out at 3500rpm due to low oil level - it would give you a big f**k off tablet and a bill for a full rebuild or new engine.

EDIT: I'm no mechanic so probably best to ignore that entirely :D

urm becuase theres nower i can go to get oil right this moment! im not running the car tho! and plus why the f**k does eveeryone keep thinkin its my fault? what you want me to do check my dipstick every half hour incase i need to top up! it was fine 5 weeks ago or so.. so didnt fink it wuld need more do you? plus the light on the dash didnt come up so what indication did i have to think to check it? NONE!!

all i can get hold of at the moment is 10w 40 oil! is that ok or not?

Should it not say 'OIL OK' everytime you start it? ...and the digital dipsitck? Or is this just on the RS models?

  Range Rover sport
no says it on all models i think mate! wel does on mine anyway! but even when the oil was low stil said 'OIL OK' so ive got an electrical fault somewere! booked it into renualt for monday!
