noise after accelerating

  b/g 182, meg tourer
when i stick my foot down then let off the pedal im hearing a noise like a quiet helicopter. its pretty quiet but its there.
any ideas what it could be?
just had new discs and pads. brake chatter? but wouldn't that be all the time?
and the noise seems to be coming from the engine bay

I get this when i slightly rev whilst stationary i think it may be something to do with the rev counter?

More than likely the air filter being slightly loosly connected and what you're hearing is induction noise. Mine does it cause the airfilter rubber has a rip in it.

after driving it again i think it is the brake pads rubbing.

anything i can do or will they wear in??
help much appreciated

Hmm if its only happening after you accelrate (let off) i wouldnt of thought so

Drive down the road and (ideally shops either side of you) put the car in neutral see if you can hear it if you can gently press the brake see if it stops.

well when i went in it today i noticed the noise pretty much whenever the car was moving. i parked up and revved slightly and there was no noise when stationary.
brakes??

Maybe try drivinf down the road at 30 ish put the car in neutral and see if you hear it then.

If you do then press the brake pedal gently whilst still moving to see if it stops

yep, thats what happens.
put it neutral and i can hear it more (less engine noise). it seems to stop when i press the brakes.
other thought was wheel bearings, but that would make a noise all the time wouldnt it?

Yeah wheel bearings would be constant drone.
Sonuds like brakes take the two front wheels of and just have a quick inspection of the discs (maybe cracked????) and pads

just went to my car to inspect the discs and pads. went to undo the wheel nuts. THEY WERE FOOKIN' LOOSE!!!!
not very happy with the mechanic that fitted the braided hoses yesterday as he was the last person to touch the wheel nuts!
good job i heard the noise and checked it out. two of the nuts were finger tight two were just loose!
im going to london thurs. i would hate to think of the mess it would have made to me/my car/other road users if a wheel came off tanking it down the A1!

at least its sorted
