Non genuine exhaust = less power??

Back box and centre section needed replacing on my 172cup.

Got quoted £300 from Renault, and £150 for a pattern copy from Unipart.

I went for the Unipart option, it is a pattern copy, but looks nothing like the orginal renault, the back box is a can, not the square box shape, and the centre section is abit different.

It all fitted fine, no probs. It's rather loud though, and i noticed a difference in performance.

It seemed slower, did'nt pull as well, and does'nt have as much hard kick at 5k.

Does any one know if this known to happen/happened to them? and should i go buy the orginal parts?

Ive got a "pattern" exhaust on my 182, its slightly noiser (sounds half decent)

But there's no power deficit from it, my car ran 176bhp on reputable rollers, i will be changing it for a Miltek at somestage in the next few months though!

The bends can be as small as 1.5" in places on a 2" exhaust!!!
When I bought my clio it had a crap box on it.
