Non sport rattling brake pads.

A few thousand K mileage I got some Ferodo pads from halfords.. Very happy with them.

But I filed a few mm off the edges to get them in and i think i did a mm or 2 too much, Now im on Eibach springs its worse, I can live with it, But does anyone know where i can get some shims from?

I doubt adding them will make the pads squeel? and if it elimiates the rattling id be happy.

you could try renewing the springs that fit the carrier (unless they came with the pads?), otherwise probably looking at new pads

Im not a 100% what you mean by the carrier springs?

Ive never had any anti rattle shims come with any set of brake pads ive bought but im pretty sure they exist.

i think the shims are usually a sort of rubberised sticker that fit on the back of the pad. the reason yours are rattling is because they've moving up&down in the carrier (which padding on the back of the pad won't prevent)

not familiar with the 1.2 calipers - do they have springs that the ends of the pads slide into? (like this)

As far as i can remeber they just rest on the caliper metal, no springs.

Ive seen clips that go at each end of calipers although it was for a VW about stopping ratting brake pads.

Although i agree they are ratting up and down i think shims behind the pads would secure them abit and stop them rattling so much?

If changing the springs made a big difference, I'd be looking at something other than the brakes TBH.
