Noob question about lowering

  Clio 1.2
right, i would like to lower my car, im a bit of a noob but hey we all start somewhere.
basically what would i need to buy and how much and also how much would it cost me for it do be done...if i supply the parts?

sorry total noob :)

Well.... the basics of suspension is that you have a spring, which sits on a platform. That supports the car. To make the car lower, you need shorter springs, known as "lowering springs".

You can also get coilover kits, which allows you to move the platform up and down, allowing for a much wider range of height adjustment.

Depends what you want too, better handling then not too low, for looks it needs to be sat on the tyres imo...

Not 100% true but you get the jist of it

Most will just replace the springs. Can buy them for under £100. Then get a mate that is able to do them, to fit them for a bit of dolla.

It's really easy mate, it does take a little while though.
If you take it to a mechanic it should take no more than 2 hours, especially if he's using an airgun.

I took my car to my father in law's garage yesterday and fitted my coilies in less than 2 hours.

garage charged me £50 to fit my sportlines so not too bad, usually hour to hour and half tops. Unless you go to a specialist who can probably do all four in half hour lol

£100?! i got quoted that from most garages but that included tracking. But tracking isnt needed when first fitted apparently as they need to settle in

You can usually find them in the for sale section on here mate. But you need to pay your £10 to become a member.

yeah think i only have about 8 pound on my card :( ha.

what new or used and what prices to people expect? anything wrong with used ones?

  Megane 225 F1
New ebaichs are around £120 I think.

Used can be any price. As long as they are clean, they are good to go tbh.

I am in Essex near Lakeside if thats any good to you? I worked on Aston Martins for over 10 years so fitting your springs is not a problem.

Thats because they are not there you will just see the shock, stick your head under from the back of the car the springs sit in ward a little.

Where abouts are you?

^^ Depends what car he has, i thought the mk1 clios had torsion bars and mk2 onwards were springs?

What car do you actually have? profile just says clio 1.2
