Noob with a corsa

  Corsa
Hi
Currently looking to sell my corsa Sri and buy a Clio 182
Firstly this forums been a massive help in what to look for but I don't really know how much I should be paying.
The best one out 4 I've seen is a cup model on 39k at £4k does this seem reasonable bearing in mind it's from a dealer?
I did put a deposit on but pulled out because someone told me I should look for a full fat one and there was only proof of the cambelt being changed about 5 years ago, no proof of dephaser/water pump.
Other than that it seemed alright, how much should the above be realistically?
Cheers

'Cup' is just a 182 Clio with a poverty-grade interior, sold to people to be track-warriors with.
If you're one for modifying your cars, no point at all, the 'cup' bits you'll end up removing anyway.
So, as above, just get a 'proper' 182, the one with some leather, cruise control, climate control and a dashbaord that wasn't pressed out of milk tray trays.

Cambelts are every 5 years, cost a nice chunk of money, need a new "dephaser" and aux belts....maybe a water pump too...or is that just something I made up @Cub.

As for "buy from the forum".....depends, if you buy a modified car, you're no longer buying a 182, you're buying someone else interpretation of what they think the car should be. That's a thing no-one agrees on.

Yea, but it depends on whats been done.
Buy a car with a few decent mods and you'll save a ton of money, it's tough to know whats 'decent' when you're a first time buyer tho.

Exhausts being the main thing, as there are many options but quite a few are really loud and kinda nasty to live with.

Link to the car for sale?

£4k is top dollar for one of these, so a cup needing belts is not a good deal at that price.

  Listerine & Poledo
Cups were cheapfrom the dealers, and they're in no way rare or special enough to warrant a premium over a "normal" 182.
Personally, a base 172 ph.2 is my idea of what a 2nd gen clio should be. All toys, no chavzorst, quick enough. 40mpg, cruise control

You're paying, almost exclusively, for the colour.
The Cobras weren't standard but they're better than the stock units.
It;s still overpriced, and the mileage on the cambelt is academic, it needs another one, so you're now looking at a £5k Clio.

a £5000, 10 year old, Clio.

Would you be interested in some magic beans?

That's £4.5k! lol

Missing services, servicing is 12k or 12 months whichever comes first so should still be done every year regardless of low miles.

Belts need doing (+£600)

Awful seats (personal opinion)

Low spec (because CUP)

That's worth half that price in my opinion.

I'd rather buy one on 70k that's got proper history than slow miler with sketchy history.

  Corsa
Cool thanks for the help. So I'm best waiting for a decent normal 182 then.
I do like the seats and exhaust in the linked one though.
I'm hoping a stock Clio is good enough out the box so I don't have to mod it.
I've had to put eibach suspension, a whiteline rarb and better tyres on my corsa to make it corner something like but it's just not quick enough.

  Listerine & Poledo
Thats becasue it's a Corsa. You can't polish a turd.
Find yourself a decent, stock machine. Then go to some CS meets in your area. Each is likely to have been "improved" in some way, then you can judge for yourself how to burn your money.

Alternatively, 1 sack of genuine, Apple branded, magic beans. Complete with certificate of authenticity and presentation wrapping. £3340 + VAT

Buy my 172 for 1000, spend 500 on belts, thrash the living daylights out of it on track

Already got eibachs and cup shocks

Suppose it depends on if you're after a minter, or summet to have fun with on track

  Corsa
Those sri's are a 1.8 are they not!?

Pretty slow for a 1800.

And corsa.

Yep, it's not too bad but that's why I'm here haha

I just thought it was overpriced because it's from a dealer but if it's wildly overpriced I'll leave it a keep looking then

Yeah, no doubt it is overpriced mate.

Don't be in any rush to spend your money, wait for the right one.

I'd use it for driving to work daily and having some fun at weekends, doubt it'll ever see a track

One should also be the other.

because "having some fun" on the queens highway isn't actually hard or cool. Neither will it make the local teen need-girls get girl-boners

Was under the impression handbrake turns = guaranteed moisture.

I sold my rb which was in brilliant nik for£3,800 with 55k belts done, michelin tyres etc

The one in the link is way overpriced considering what it needs

Also the dash material is the same. Higher quality door cards and a nicer finish to silver strips. Seats are the same but trimmed in plastic instead of cloth. Non-sport steering wheel is smaller and melts slower.

The Cup really isn't the pauper-mobile many like to make out. It's amusing that it gets slated on here, and yet the Trophy, which is a red Cup with better suspension, is the holy grail

It was just a cheaper route to going quick.

Yea it was just abit odd, considering the previous CUP model was abit more lightweight and all.
It's like they made a start, by putting in a different interior and then just thought "ah f**k it" or whatever that is in French.

  Listerine & Poledo
The lightweight measures of the ph.1 cup were made entirely pointless if the driver didn't take a dump before going out for a drive.

And given the only real noticeable difference was that the Cup car was easier for someone to nose into a wall when the driver runs out of talent and locks up all 4 corners

OP - I sold my mint RB182 a few years ago, with all belts etc done for £2,500 with 70K on the clock.

They do seem to have gone up in price now, but that one linked is well over priced.

As already mentioned, you are better buying one from this forum, as you can see its history and we tend to devalue our cars, so it will be cheaper than one from AT

?
This place sticks scene tax on anything that can be bolted to a Clio, let alone the car itself.
I get your meaning though, a well looked after forum car is a better bet than a dealer-based FRSH low-miler, and may be a bit cheaper than autotrader

That orange one used to be owned by a guy on here, the bloke who painted over the dirty insides of his wheels and polished his exhaust boxes - it is in pretty good condition from what I remember.

Bet he got £2k in px!
