Nooby macbook/unibody question - can i upgrate to lion

The other day i was in the apple store and they was doing a demo on a snow lepard machine (not a macbook) and i noticed it had the option to upgrade to lion for only £21

anyways i will be buying myself a 2nd hand macbook very soon, either a normal macbook or a unibody (Probabilly a late 2008, early 2009 depending what i can get my hands on) therefore it will probabily be running leopard. Can I use the same function as the machine stated above and jump forward two systems (from leopard to snow leopard and onto then lion)

I just want to reely know the facts before i commit

Lion is only £20.99 anyway from the App Store.

So long as you've got App Store already, buying and downloading Lion is a piece of actual piss.

App store only available on Snow Leopard, think you have to upgrade twice.
