Norris's New Track Weapon

Saw it at combe last bank holiday and was less than impressed tbh.

I think tbf, he has rushed this one as a mate of mine said he was mapping it whilst driving it to the race ffs!!

Oh, and it only lasted about 6 laps.

The exhaust broke on it thats all, not something you expect to go when building a car its a monster.

Made 790bhp on 97 ron petrol @ 2.3 bar

He didnt run that for the race though

And the meeting before his driveshaft was fubar'd and he never even made it out!

I'm not having a dig as I quite admire the bloke, but surely making 700-odd horsepower is a bit of a waste of time if the car is reliable enough to do what it was built for.

A few piccies from last time out, was rubbing nicely on right-handers...

Not particularly quick yet but not too many new cars show up quick from the off. Asuming he doesn't bin it I imagine it will be quick after a while, will need to gain at least 3 seconds per lap to be competitive in his class - the likes of Nick Williamson (Escort) and Mark Funnel though (who incidentally I saw driving past my house today in his Exige, always amusing seeing a fully kitted race car on the road!)

I can't believe Funnel's Mrs (i assume?) drives the exige home after a race! Its mental! That shows reliability!

That Evo does look the tits though!! :D

Looks a right monster for a 3. I always like to see the Evo's that Norris knock out, along with some of the other Jap stuff they've done. Sooner I get an Evo in my life and start modding it the better, love them.

  Ph1 Clio V6, Ph2 172
Ive yet to see a vid of his evo with a skyline 'box. Thats probaby the best evo ive ever layed my eyes on.....would personally prefere a short wheel base Ur Quattro though!!

  Nippy white cup
Looks amazing but are his lines right? I'm no race driver but some of those bends I would be further out and cutting in but he seems to be more central on his approach?

  '53 172 Cup
I kept thinkin the same... he's got great straight line speed but in every corner he took the other cars were pulling space on him... wants to get more 'twisty' speed I'd have thought... even I can go fast in a straight line!?!

  Evo 8 Jap Crap
He aint a good driver on track thats why infact i think hes dangerous

I think its about 3 good crashes hes had at coombe now?

  LY R26
yeah im goin to pop over, i cant remember the last time i went to combe and saw proper racing, its always been action or track days!

  182 Cup
Would be alot faster in the right hands, he doesnt consider his lines much and he spends too much time coasting into a corner. He needs to learn to be alot more aggresive, especially braking.

  Exotica/MK1 Astra
LMAO at all the internet warriors ragging on him, "he can't drive for toffee" LMAO, you're all Grade A Licence holders I assume?

The evo look good!

i still don't understand that series, how can a 700bhp evo "race" against a caterham etc etc?

It's nothing too out of the ordinary, several classes including Sports Prototypes, Highly Modified Saloons, Production Sports etc. He's pretty much in the middle of the pack, some of Caterhams are a fair bit quicker than his Evo, and a few are a few seconds slower.

Not really any different to something like GT4 in the FIA GT Package, where you get X-Bows and Donkervoorts racing big Mustangs and Corvettes.

Love the internet bandwagon jumpers on mr Norris crashing a race car, in a race series

he has made a few errors, no more than other people in national race series, but because of his profile seems to get alot more s**t, espically from people who do the odd track day and think they are amazing

I think some people need to realise that the dude (good driver or not) is trying to keep a 750hp car on the track. Not doing a track day in a 172 with a carbon splitter and silvervisions.

I personally think he does quite a good job.

Don't get me wrong, I think some of his antics are a bit 'WTF' and he will never be up there with the likes of Preddble/cox/Funnel but lets be honest, all the people on here are just jumping on a bandwagon.

Interesting point. Not suggesting for a second that I could do better. It seemed like his turn in points looked quite early.

This is another interesting point. I did my track day there on friday and got on quite well all day. Until my last outing where my mate passengered (raced in same league as norris) and he was shouting at me for not turning in early enough. Seems the racers do it a little different! lol.

My fella had a photoshoot @ Pod for Redline with a few other cars including Norris's original Evo. Jesus Christ!! That machine was mental, sounded immense.
