Nort east remap 200 bhp lol

  182
:(Hi Richard. In response to your question, the map is a map specifically designed and tested for the 182, and is then made unique to your vehicle. There is only one map stored in the ECU (A modified version of your current map) and as for power gains, its hard to say as it depends on what exhaust/filter you have however I would expect it to be around the 200bhp area.

We have a 172 for sale at the moment. Its a car we have done a lot of modifying to, including a remap and it goes like stink!

We currently have the remaps on special offer at £245, reduced from £325

200bhp

just asked a few questions as i live in north east and leeds is an hours drive this was from a company based in sunderland called eclipse
http://www.eclipse-performance.com/
check out there 172 :(
has anyone ever used these before

Can any old cowboy crack a Clio Sports map?

Took the tuners a while to tap into untill recently (last 3 or so years) or are they buying them pre done?

Just with the amount of random nobody companys offering this kind of service

200bhp tho lol

If im honest im a bit dissapointed because i was expecting this thread to be about Motorscope RR. But still a funny thread :D

  Clio
however I would expect it to be around the 200bhp area.

What is 'expect it to be around the 200 bhp area'. How big is the 'area'. Is that the same size as a region when 'in the region of' ?

Much better to use words like 'possibly' 'anticipated' or my favorite 'hopefully'. Much more vague and indirect.

  s1 williams/106gti
if anyones got an old 1.1i ax layin around i can chip them upto 837.34 bhp atw's .......................but only if you run it on unicorn s**t

  Monaco Blue 172
never used them before but the place looks like as shithole, its opposite quickfit near the bowling alley

  182
nah matt i think an email with a link to this thread should be suffice :D

dont think they will see another clio for a while lol

What a bunch of idiots. They're clearly lieing to con people. The average owner may actually believe this sort of crap.

  Punto JTD
lol - nice. As many people would say, it's only worth remapping if it has been on the dyno.

What is the most that can be had from a remap? 8 BHP?

Hi. You lot will probably find this hillarious, but I am the guy at Eclipse Performance that answered Rich1982's origonal email. HELLO!

I regstered on here because I noticed a lot of visitors on our site were coming from here, so I thought Id take a look.

Obviously, Im going to ignore some of the comments above, particularly those claiming we are in a different area in Sunderland, and the others who think our place is 'not as good as they would like'. However, I will of course respond the the origonal reason this post was created (I think?). Will a 182 with an uprated exhaust & filter reach 'around' 200BHP with a remap??.... Well, I stand by my origonal answer. QUOTE "its hard to say as it depends on what exhaust/filter you have however I would expect it to be around the 200bhp area"

In fact, Im so confident, that if any of you would like to put it to the test your more than welcome. If you have a 182, with an uprated exhaust & filter, then bring it along and we'll remap it for you, free of charge. If you pay the £45 to get a rolling road figure, and it fails to come within 4bhp of 200bhp (I think that safely constitutes the '200bhp AREA' then you keep the remap for free. If it does come within 4bhp of 200BHP, then if you are happy to pay £150 for it then we have a deal. At least that way you have helped me prove a point.

Any takers???

Oh, and for any of you who are interested.... here is one of our 172's, running CLOSE to 200BHP!!! lol How close??? Well.... who knows?.... CLIO 172[/URL]

LOL just dont take it to motorscope for the RR, ive heard of 200+ bhp 1.2 nissan micras ;O

Yep I can find you a pair of 182's to the spec you want. I'll remove the engines, fit them to a pair of identical Superflow engine dynos with full car exhausts and induction/filtration setups on them in climate control cells and give you full access for 24 hours. Both fuel supplies would be 97 octane pump fuel or 99 octane pump fuel with bio ethanol - your choice.

If you manage 196bhp on either engine I'll give you five grand. If you don't you give me five grand + costs of removing/refitting engines and engine dyno time. Fair?

That removes any argument about rolling road accuracy, ambient temperature, fuel quality etc.

Before accepting it might be a good idea to look very closely (as a starting point) at the cam profile, port size, inlet manifold design and knock limit along with investigating just how many engines came out of Renault in production 1*2's that made the figures Renault state. On the average 182 to meet your 196bhp claim you will need to find 20 - 22bhp, with no way to deliver additional air mass you are limited to spark timing and injection duration as your only two methods of improving the power output. The knock limit is around 32 degrees, possibly 33 at the point of peak power on the standard cams. At that on 99 octane with a lean mixture for power you migh just get low 180's, if the engine is an absolute gem and in perfect nick and the charge air temps are in single figures then 185 might just be possible. That's still 11bhp short.

Cheers

Just to add 'grogan'. I am sorry our place doesnt look as good as we would like from the outside, however its as good as we can get for a company who has only been operating for a little over 12 months. But Im sure if you came down and had a look around you would soon change your mind. We have 100's of alloy wheels for you to look at in our showroom, along with a huge selection of guages, suspension, induction kits etc etc... not to mention the £100,000 Subaru rally car we built and run for a customer in Scotland, the other 450 BHP Impreza (before you all panic, I have the rollong road figues! LOL) we are building as a show car, and the hundreds of trophies we have won in rallying from the British to World rally champioship (i myself have won at British and World rally chapionship level as a driver). Come and have a look some time.

You should never judge a book by its cover!!

pmsl a exhaust would add 1-2bhp and induction kits are known for creating noise and losing bhp. u must have 1 fucked up rolling road

Get a rolling road figure before, so u can see how accurate the rollers are though. Dont forget to check the transmision loss figures...

Thanks ICARUS. You sound like you really know what you are talking about! Ill decline your offer, simply because that sounds like a great deal of fuss for something that im really not THAT bothered about to be honest. However, my origonal offer still stands.

And if Im proved worng, dont worry, i wont loose an ounse of sleep over it. If Im proved right then great, someone gets a remap for a great price and we all have a smile on our face!)

  clio 172 cup
be honest i wouldnt let him anywhere near my car.
k-tec,gdi,angelworks would all tell u u cant get 200bhp out of a remap.
he mught be able to get 200bhp on his RR but i'll take it somewhere else and it'll be a about 173.
most renault tuners would say u need throttle bodies to get 200bhp y would a tuning coming say u need £3,000 to get 200bhp when u can do it for under £300.
r u the company that can chip diesel cars and get 50-100bhp from a remap

i don't imagine anyone will want a remap that you aren't THAT bothered about:S

Matt, i'll give you a bell tomorrow :approve:

I've just offered the perfect test enviroment with two engines on two calibrated climate controlled engine dynos to remove any chance of an engine specific issue causing a problem.

Mr Eclipse Performance Person - you've got a succesful rally team on the go and the potential for a good business, please don't do your self an injustice by claiming you can calibrate a standard Clio 182 (with a none standard exhaust and induction/filtration system) to produce 196bhp. All claims like that do is devalue you and your business as it simply isn't possible to geneate that sort of figure on the standard cam profiles and inlet system - and everyone on this forum is well aware of that!

Cheers

Very tempted to take the ITB'd track car up get a RR, for a Huge 230+bhp interweb boasting figures, Oh this car makes 202bhp on RStunings rollers...

So you dont have a set of rollers on site to map cars with :(

... And we are very interested in our remaps, Im just not gonna loose any sleep over not meeting figures. Thats what i meant by 'not bothered' - but I appreciate that might not have been the best way to say what So I sill stand by my offer. Thanks ICARUS, like I said, you know your stuff.

i so wish i went to this company and got a remap rather than cams itbs and omex to do nearly the same job, pffff. ffs man in the cliosport world there are alot of people that know there shiznits, companys like you are out to scam people. go home and dont come back thank you please

  53 Clio's & counting
fair play for coming on to talk about this, and welcome :)

so just so i get this right, if someone brings up a 182 with aftermarket air filter and exhaust ( i would define if that is cat back, with/without cat ect) and you will re map it to make approx 196 bhp? and the owner of said 182 can take it to another rolling road to get that verified? Trip to RS tuning's rollers me think!

Would it not be better to say a wheel power figure rather than a flywheel figure chap? just to make things more acuurate

shouldnt have put them pics up mate making even worse for ya sell they hate angel eyes, they hate mine lol

just stop having a go at him if you are all so sure go and get a free remap
