was doing about 80-85 on the mway in 5th with an 02 reg astra dti right up me arse. both had driver+pasenger. he was much too close so i booted it in 5th upto about 100. didnt pull away mcuh but i did pull away. he was defd going for it. both quite young etc and looked the type. would this be about right as i thought id take off from him a bit quicker??

Youve got the problem in your question doing 85 you should be in 4th you would of opened the gap alot more. You really have to rev the valver to get it shifting use the gears to keep it high up the rev range when booting it.

Echo what Ben just said.

About 2 weeks after buying my 19 16v I got wasted by a new Golf Tdi. Was coming through a quiet village at 30 and it goes straight into nation speed limit. I was in 4th and I put my foot down and the golf just overtook and was away. Made me a bit sad to say least.

Then about a month later I pulled up at some lights next to the exact same car! (recognised personal plate) Held on to each gear change and caned him 3 times in a row.

Just need to learn how to use to engine. I am still learning what it is and isnt capable of. :)

I wouldnt go admiting to doing those speeds mate, just in case.

But if someone is close like that remember the other special power you have. Its a brake. Slam it on, watch him sh*te his pants cos he is too close and then if you feel you have too, boot the accelerator.
