not by choice.. but looks like i need new exhaust!!

as you all know i have a standard ph1 172
i took it into a garage today, as i noticed the backbox was hanging down.

the mechanic put the car on the ramp. i stood underneath the car and noticed that the backbox has halfway snapped off also the exhaust now sounds fooking loud.

i know pattern parts/renault genuine parts are expensive.
so i am thinking i have no choice but to aftermarket/sports.

its a 7year old standard 172, so i might as well give it a new breath of fresh?

btw, i dont really want a sports exhaust, but if I do, its going to be stealth.

ktec quoted me with cs discount approx £347 for the cat back stealth system.they said also this was a common fault with the exhausts on the ph1 172..

can anyone recommend me, if i dont go through ktec..

i paid 350 for a practically brand new one from a member off here, not stelath but looks mint (i think), and the noise it makes is absolutly gorgeous, not to loud either like most people think.

I'm going to go for the yozzasport [clio RS ragnotti road] exhaust when my OE one falls off.

How noisey is the loud system, can you live with it day to day ok?

without sounding funny mate... who checked the car over before you bought??? the rust areas are pretty easy to spot.

seen and heard a few YS ones and they are not for me.

oh well.. i was gona get new exhaust at some stage, looks like my plans have brought it early

JLO, have a look at the GDI systems, they do a stealth and they are all pretty quiet. I've got the 2.5" system (they do 2.25" normally) and even that's not that loud, even on motorways you dont have to raise your voice for people to hear you.

just dropped my mk1 172 off at prospeed. exactly same problem by sounds of it.

i'm having 3.5" slash cut into bumper cat back for £319. the guys are awesome and fitted me in at short notice.

pics and review up this afternoon hopefully

Quite a few ph1s with cut out exhaust that use the 182 exhaust trims that look OE.

Thats what I'd have, massive improvement IMO. Ph1 bumper is quite plain IMO so it needs a pipe.Ph2 bumpers look better with stealth IMO.

yeah i'm sure prospeed will do a stealth for you but imo when spending £300 i want to be able to see something. I saw what Day on here had done at prospeed and i'm asking for the same
