Not Fueling

My 182 is on ITB's & has been running fine, then a few days ago when i was not in my old man started to fart around with my car and started it a few times to show his friends.

Now it wont start,

Everything is priming and clicking as it should do and it turns over well & the battery is fully charged.

By looking down the trumpets i can see its not getting any fuel. All the fuses are ok and i cant hear any relays clicking.

Apprently one or more of the trumpets shot a flame when my dad was farting around with it (not sure if that is of any significance)

The Injectors arnt getting 12v, do they only get 12v when the engine is turning over?

There is fuel in the fuel rail and the pump is priming

Can anyone help with giving me advice on what could be wrong?

Thanks

Chris

The rev counter does not move when i crank the engine.

I have been meaning to try download Omex software and plug my laptop in to it see what it comes up with.

plug in, could be crank trigger, but then it could be a lot of things.

monitor what the ECU thinks battery voltage is as well as crank trigger.

The popping from the itb's is fuel bearing back through, nothing to worry about there mate, how do you know there is fuel in the rail?

Check all your earth straps, im not 100% on Omex, but every electrical component must have a good earth

I pulled the pipe off the end of the fuel rail and i can see the is presurised fuel in there as it burst out when i pulled it off.

I havnt changed anything on the engine for months so no earths should be bad, but i will check them anyway.

Also this link
Its not the software for my computer its just a manual.

Anyone else know where i can get the software from?

You may have to buy a cable matey.

Id lean towards an earth, one may have worked loose, maybe that tap at the ring worked one slightly loose? Stranger things have happened lol

Yeah i did think it could have been an earth from my little bump but all the ones i can see are all tight.

It keeps throwing it down with rain here and i refuse to work on my car in the rain atm lol

You'll need a straight RS232 pin to pin cable matey. Ancient stuff

Yeah i've had a looks for a cable sutiable in my house but cant find one. I'll look on the bay or somthing :)

can't remember if the crash switch still does anything. Worth a try pushing it.

Could prob find the issue for you pretty quick tbh

I didnt think 182's came with those crash switches?

Where should it be if there is one?

that's the kind of converter you need if you dont have a coms port on your laptop yes, but you'll need a cable too as the adapter will be very short

Ok so say its not getting any power to the ECU, putting a voltmeter on the wires on the ecu loom when the ecu is connected should show 12V?

STILL DOESNT START!

My new TDC sensor arrived today, fitted it, turns over but STILL doesnt fire.

I pulled a spark plug out and earthed in to the car and turned it over but it didnt spark at all.

Am i doing it right?

When you turn the ignition on, all these relays in the engine bay click a few times

But this one doesnt click at all

I checked that the injectors, coilpack, fuses and some other parts are getting power and they are.

What else could be causing it not to start? Someone please help the car has been dead for over a month :(

The ones you've circled chris are the starter, ignition, fan and fuel pump relays. There are large and small ones for fan and starter iirc. Not sure what the black one is? Is that a bodge job from your adjusted loom?

  TRACK CAR BREAKING
i had a problem like this with one of my old cars..
turned out the injectors wernt opening...

Right i'm going to plug the laptop into the OMEX and try figure out how to see RPM (might need to ring someone who is familar with OMEX software to help me), need to see if i'm getting 250-300 rpm when cranking, If i'm not then i'll check the looms :S

  Clio 172
I had this very problem on my Omex ITB setup turned out to be one of the TDC sensor wires that splice into the original loom was fraid/broken inside causing it to cut out at first then stop altogether.

All the same symptoms you have, Pump primed, Fuel rail pressurized and engine cranking.

I also did the fuel pump trigger wiring trick (well the AA man did after it conked out on me) as per Ktec's instructions so that the omex controls the fuel pump trigger and not the original ecu.

Omex really are very helpful too when you phone them as are Ktec.

Yeah kinda, you know the two wires i'm speaking about?. Its the only 2 from the old loom you have to join to the new loom, some of the soldering have broken off and the bend i put on the wire eventually made it snap.

Its wirth just going over all the soldered joints again and check all your earths as said before.

STILL HAVE A DEAD CAR

I've been so busy with work i havnt really been able to work on the car :(

I just cant connect my laptop to the ECU and when i touched the wiring the laptop tryed connecting for a second. So i think it could be the wiring :(

I just dont have time in the day to phone Omex or K-tec but i am going to message K-tec soon to see if they can help.

So first thing, what does this do? As my car is cranking over but not fireing up.

I'm not that far away from you, I should be able to come over if you can cover my costs. Give me a call on the work number 07880 62 62 00

Check the wiring into the TDC sensor... the Omex loom is spliced into this IIRC, a friend of mine had trouble with these connections coming loose / poor contact.
