Not happy

Welcome to the world of the Clio..... Ive had the car exactly 1 week and it wont start.... So Im stuck at work until the AA come.:(

Not a happy chappy

The saga continues...... The AA have been... Fiddled about and got it running, but press the accellerator and nothing happens! Fly-by-wire b****cks.

So Im now sitting here waiting for ANOTHER AA man to come to tow my car to the dealer and the wife is having to come to pick me up.

I shall be at the dealer at 8am when the service guys get in to have a rant, and either fix it or give me a car for the weekend

Still not a happy chappy

bummer, to be fair not heard many complaints about the FBW failing? not what u want from a new motor though, good luck!!

  Hippys bus of LOVE !!!

Why not ask for a new car ? Hand the dealer the keys back and say you want a new car. It worked for me :D but not with renault.

Well Ive finally had an update from the dealer....

"Its a computer fault Sir..." - Said in a very patronising voice

Yeah, I gathered that.... Anyway, a new ECU is on order from Renault France and _should_ be here in 5-7 days (I presume working days). So by the time I get my car back they will have had it longer than I have!!!

Oh well, at least I can thrash the bollox off the 1.2 theyve given me - jets see if I can break this one :)

Sell it & get a 16v.

Sounds like there more reliable than the 172! ;)
I would rather get there in style with the chance of a breakdown. ;)

you have to just to get up a hill.. LOL

oh dear.. did I say that out loud..

Finally got my car back today with a new ECU. Air con didnt work which is now fixed.

But theyve put 37 miles on the car which is a little unreasonable for a test drive. The dealer say that coz the AA didnt note the mileage then theres nothing they can do coz its my word against theirs.

Anyway, got my car back which is the main thing, but I certainly wont be giving them any more of my business.

Does anyone think it would be worth my while writing to Renault UK to complain or isnt it worth it?

Id complain, no doubt them 37 miles have been the thrashing of its life. If youd been given a 172 to "test drive" would you drive it steady?

my mates car went into citroen for the ecu chip. That night he saw HIS car driving around Romford!!!!!!!! Well naturally he went mad and was given 250 quid ex gracia. Still not a happy chappy. It was a Xsara VTS brand new so they would have thrashed it!!

Do you know what your mpg was reading when you picked the car up????

I.e. If if was reading 20mpg, then its been thrapped

sorry to chuck a spanner in the works, but...why is it any less ok that they thrash your car when youve thrashed their demo car?

g

erm because erm erm erm i will find a reason because its your car and the car they give you is owned by the garage and been wragged by everyone that drives them

Because theyve given me permission to drive their car as I would my own.

They were fixing my car and I believe that 37 miles in an unreasonable distance for a test drive. I wouldnt have batted an eyelid if it had been 10 miles or so.

did you get that done at Crossroads Abingdon? If so they are buggers for test driving! I always note the mileage when I take mine in there.

mine whent in to get exhaust looked at and they did 3 miles in it and economy was better than when i left it lol

my friends dads 7 series bmw went in for a service and ended up goig to london and back !!!

rocko, I dont dispute that at 37 miles the mileage is indeed excessive.

Im sure that with "Because theyve given me permission to drive their car as I would my own" theres a clause that says ...which is carefully and relative to the purpose that particular car was designed for. ;)

i actually had a good car once when i had my primera it whent in to get sprayed and i got a 200sx from them :D i was very happy for them 2 days

Cool, id have kept breaking my car to get that! but knowing my luck id end up with a micra.

37 miles? what on earth were they doing to it? i wouldnt have thought that fitting a new ECU and A/C fix would warrant such a long drive! Even when i worked for a subaru garage i took them to "dry them off", but less than a mile, just the long route back to the garage (about 1/2 mile, albeit at a healthy speed)

Id thrash the car because its annoying having your nice new car in the garage so early after youve bought it. You paid for a 172 you want 172 performance, not courtesy non-virginal boat performance. Just think, someone else has broken in your baby. Id be fuming. Ah well, at least the 172s respond well to thrashing instead of running in properly. Theyve probably done you a favour!

When I picked my car up it had 45 miles on it so I demanded another free tank of petrol after Id used the one I got with the car! I only take it back there if it really needs something doing as they all seem about 18 and want to rag the sh1t out of my car on test drives! Take it to Crossroads in Kidlington, much better.

You should see the new cars being delivered to Renult Edinburgh being wheelspun of the transporter and into the dealers.

oh dear. I think the best thing to do would be to get a large post it note and stick it on the dash saying the mileage of your car, and that its also recorded somewhere else. Also put something under your accelerator so that it cant be floored

Take it back into them and get them to print out the ecu readings. I beleve that the ecu has a memory, and should be able to tell the rpms over the past few runs, along with a welth of other info.

;)

Renault Edinburgh put about 25 miles on my clock when I had it serviced there.
Mine was towed there 2 weeks ago by the AA after a coil failed. When I picked it up the next day it had an extra 15 miles on it and they also managed to bugger one of the alloys as well:
