wee update on the steelies. got the first one finished polishing wise so decided to try painting the centres to see how it got on, not good.
used hammerite but the paint has went too thick even tho its only two coats and has a runny effect. so, with the guidance of mr fox what i need to do is sand them smooth with some 600 grit then 1200 to get it reet smooth. then use a laquer to finish and protect the paint and the exposed steel.
anyway heres some pics. ignore the paint it will be getting fixed
with a rough sand down and original paint which was scratched and guff looking.
lip polished and the first coat of paint just on bit of rippling but thought it would be ok
after two thin coats it realy thickened up and look gash so will get smoothing in a few days once im happy the paint is totally dry and give it a laquer
