Occasional loud 'Crack!' noise when i dump the clutch

Hey ive got a prob with my dci atm. Sometimes (but not every time) when i push the clutch in to change gear theres a loud 'Crack!' that seems to come from down there & it makes it near impossible to get it into gear with the clutch fully depressed! I find i hav to really stamp my foot down on the clutch and jam it into the gears to make it go & then finally about like 20mins later theres another loud 'Crack' from the pedal & gear change is easy!

Has anyone had this problem before? A friend thought it might be the self adjuster missing a notch, but my mechanic recently changed the clutch & said that cos its hydraulic it doesn't seem to hav a self adjuster :S

Could something be catching? Its DEFINITELY something to do with that 'Crack' noise. It drives and shifts fine til the 'Crack', then its a nightmare to get it into the gears until it goes 'Crack' again & then its fine. It went crack on me at the traffic lights the other day & i held up traffic for ages, it wouldn't go into gear even with the clutch pressed fully down and TWO HANDS on the gear stick!

Check the gerbox selectro is setup right. plus it got enough fluid in the box.

also if you cannot get it in gear put the car in neutral then lift your fott off the clutch sitck it back down then put it in.

could be the syncros starting to go in the box.

Are you determined to be left stranded????

Check all the links. If it's not them, and it probably will get worse, take the box off and get it rebuilt. No more than £500 for the box on and off + replacement of the faulty part.

Can i remind you the 'Crack' noise comes when depressing the pedal - surely its something attached to the pedal thats causing the prob??

IVE GOT IT!!!!
Well i don't actually know wot it is, but this morning i found a way to fix it short term.

If i lift the pedal upwards with my hand, the pedal makes the crack sound once more & the gears slide in easy after that!

Me thinks its probs one of the plastic mountings on the clutch pedal at the top, ive noticed that i can shake the pedal around quite a bit lol
