Odd 182 Dash Lights - Advice Please

  Mondeo STTDCI
Every now and then I get the STOP light and the (!) Light light up on my dashboard. Usually it will be on a long sweeping bend but it has happened on straights. Then they go away again.

What could it be?

I know that low brake fluid can do that... but it isn't the stop light that goes on...

Have you checked all the fluid levels ?

How many clicks before the light goes on when you pull the handbrake?

Handbrake is fine. (!) comes on after one click. Have just checked brake fluid level. Bloody hard to check that is. So fluid fine handbrake fine.

Well.. it won't be a first (as far as wiring is concerned) - just think of the temp sensor probs (which were wiring related).

Do you think it's the handbrake sensor? (simplest solution?).

Possible to disconnect, and test-drive ?

^^

I'm not sure what the technical term is... but yes - the switch which causes the "stop" light to engage, when you pull the handbrake.

Something to do with that?

My dads 182 does the same, on sweeping bends, im sure its something to do with the brake fluid seeming low to the sensor due to the fluid moving about?
