Odd question - how do you print white?!

Printing on window film today and using Word to design what I'm producing, I wanted to print the text and numbers white so I changed the text etc to white. Print it and what happens, it doesn't print the white stuff (I guess it assumes you are printing on white paper so it doesn't bother with it)

Arrrggghhhh! Just wasted 6 sheets of window film on nothing! Any ideas how to get around it?!

Like you say , it probably thinks your printing on white . I guess your only way to do it would be to make the white a slightly off white , slightly grey !

You cant print white (well not in a standard inkjet printer anyway). Inkjet inks are transparent so the colour they appear is dependent on the colour of the material you print on, in most cases white.

If you make it off white, it will still not show up as white, just an 'off' version of whatever the background is.

You'd need to go to a specialist vinyl printers to get an opaque print, i.e. white.

Transparancies/Film/Plastic sheet etc.. are designed to be projected onto a white screen/board so why would you want to print white?

Like Nick said most printing processes don't print white (no ink jet printers will), Everything you print comes out of a mix of Cyan, Yellow, Magenta and Black inks, making it impossible to print white, which is created by the paper. The only way to print white is to have it done proffesionally as an additional spot colour/ink.

You can print a light grey 10% black but I doubt it will be very visable.
