Off the shelf wax

  LY R26 #288
Looks like the weather might be good down south this weekend :D, Really wanna give the car a good old clean and seal her.

So I need to get my hands on a wax off the shelf in helfrauds. Anyone recommend anything half decent?.

I plan to Wash, De-tar with AG tar remover, srp, wax.

This is just a spruce up, I plane to get a DA sometime soon for the summer :D.

Unless you have a decent detailing shop near by, HD Wax from AutoGlym is going to be your only possibility.

Nice, with a £45 price tag!. lol.

Is EGP or something like that not a possibility? I know its not wax but I dunno!.

Egp is just a waste of money.

Buying off the net you can ag hd for £25 but then again you wouldn't be asking this question.

EGP is a sealant and there is nothing wrong with that. Not the best, not the worst. It will do for the moment.

Is there any difference between EGP and UDS?.

I might put this on for now, I need to order some stuff off the net really. But thats not going to help me this weekend :(

Ok I've read that UDS is more like SRP. Lot of peoples reviews of EGP are a bit poor though lol.

I use AG HD wax and think it's really good, looks great and durability is pretty good too. but at £45 just to get it by the weekend probably not, I paid £25 ish online which I think is about right for it. I'll be purchasing another pot when this one runs out. application is easy and even the GF makes nice comments about the gloss

On budget from Halfords just stick to the EGP, it's cheap, gives a nice finish. wash again next week, then apply another coat of EGP for durability and do this until you can get an online order to get some better products such as the HD wax at a reasonable price

Thanks for the comments. I keep toying with the idea of getting the wax but its too overpriced at halfords and I need to wait untill payday really. So I'll just do as you said I think Dave. :)

I certainly would not be spending my £45 on AG HD wax, save the Cleaning Session for next weekend and look around online.

If it were me that's what I ould do, plus I originally would apply HD wax over EGP providing it was still suitably clean.

as said just get the EGP.. i use it on my cup and dont find it 2 bad just a b**ch buffing it off by hand lol

I found this when I first started using it years ago, was initially applying to much, less is more I was told and it certainly made a difference. also if the MF cloth isn't very clean, or has bee used quite a few times to buff off the EGP it makes it quite difficult. throw them in the wash and hopefully with a thinner layer it'l be much easier

I got a bottle of megs tech wax 2.0 for free ages ago, put a thin layer on after SRP last week and it gave good shine and great beading.

Still looking shiny a week of rain etc later.

Yeah I'll get some decent stuff online. I'll just get some cheapish stuff tomorrow so I can get it looking fairly decent. Want to get out and get some good pics of it in the sun!. Doesn't stay clean for more than a day at the moment!.

I used to get so much powder from SRP. I think its because I was loading it on and the panels where drying white instead of hazey. lol

Make sure the applicator is wet before you start, and approx 50p size should be enough for a panel / half a bonnet or roof.

Will do matey. Hopefully post some pics up tomorrow, unless somthing goes terribly wrong and I don't get to do it.

Well I've been washing the car since 10am. I've just finished. Quiet pleased with the result. Think I went overboard on the EGP though as its dusty as hell now!. Going out in a bit to take some pics.

Woohoo I get JD's seal of approval? lol.

To be fair its the first time I've ever done that extent of a clean. Would be nothing to you guys but I usually just give it a quick wash and dry. JD what wax would you recommend? I'm thinking AG HD wax but I'm sure you'll throw others into the works. And can I put wax straight ontop of the EGP that is already on there?.

Just ordered some. If I wash the car this weekend, will it be alright to put the wax ontop of the egp thats already on there?.
