Offside inner front gator ripped

  Iceberg 172
Basically, went to ktec and as soon as I pulled up they informed me that I needed the dephaser done. Got that done and while they did that they checked over the vehicle and noted that the cv gator was shagged, albeit recent so still greased. They said it should be fine to get through whole mot but would need the whole thing replacing at a cost of 160 odd quid.

Anyway I get home and find replacement gator kits immediately and get one from europarts. Had its mot today and it was a failure... Ktec were wrong. So in short is this bit of rubber replacable? I've read it is but been told it isn't. Really don't want to shell out more than I need too as the mot confirmed its skill working fine.

If it's just the actual rubber gaiter thats broken it'll probably just needs an inner cv gaiter kit as long as the joint itself isn't damaged, as for the costs to replace it I'm not sure.

outer CV gaitor? the kit from renault is about £35 (use genuine, aftermarket are crap) takes abour 1.2hrs tops (plus gearbox oil if its passenger side)

or replace the driveshaft complete

It's the inner CV gaitor. So its changeable, ill get it done this weekend hopefully. It's offside so it won't drain the gearbox oil I don't think. But.I'm changing it anyway.

So is the inner cv gaitor replaceable? Seems some people say it is and others say the whole lot needs replacing?!
