spent the last hour trying to dry it out to discover under the carpet is bout an inch deep in water an wont dry. prob ave to leave it to Renault to get them to rip out the carpet an all. any1 any ideas on wot else to do??

wots reli annoyin is that i cant jus drain it out cos the foam under the carpet has soaked a gd bit of water up:mad:

the wet foam under the carpet will all need to come out and be dried, when i did a few flood damaged cars i bought as salvage last summer i left some of the under carpet foam under the sun on the washing line and it doesn't dry, its got a sealant sprayed on it that holds in the water. Utter nightmare. Have a go at drying it, if you need some replacement foam/other stuff damaged by the water drop me a pm.

nightmare. get on to the water board mate. hope you took some pics or have someone with you to verify it?!?!

surely they are responsible for this? or maybe even asda as it was water damaged in their car park?

I'd be tempted to claim off insurance for something like that.. it's obviously got in the heating system etc - may have caused more damage than meets the eye matey.

if you don't do something reasonably lively the carpets will go mouldy and/or stink to hell for a long time to come... rip the lot out if need be.

I'd be inclined to contact the water board for that area and have a word mate. Surely they'd be responsible for damage caused by their water main bursting and damaging your car.

Either way, good luck with it mate.

Telephone Asda first and speak to their Manager. Tell him/her the story and that you'll be looking to make a claim against their Public Liabilty Insurance. This is the insurance that covers financial loss to a non-employee as a result of the businsess' negligence, and that occurs on it's premises.

problem is in the car park it states that any loss damage to anything left in the car park isn't asdas responsibility, if you were willing to take it to court i would say you could have an extremely strong case though.

Hire out a dehumidifier and leave it in the car with the doors closed for a day. itll dry it out quite well.

That's a sore one. I would definetely be getting on to asda/ the water board. I would get it all out asap to stop it stinking your car out.

If it got properly soaked the whole lot will need pulling out thoroughly wetvaccing then dried out. Weather is s**t at the moment so could prove interesting. We used to dry them out in a compressor room that got red hot at work.

Were there contractors working on the pipes when you came back to your car, or was this a new incident and as such not being seen to?

  98 Honda Civic EJ9
i work in asda so i was parked outside whilst checking my hours. there wer ppl using the pipe earlier to get water as they wer cleanin chewing gum up so it may be them that didnt close the pipe properly or caused it to break sumhow.
