oil change in diesel

Missus has just got a dci clio, mate told me if you regularly change the oil and oil and air filters it should run for ever, kinda, This true? and how ofetn should i change them?

I change my oil ever 9k and it does make a difference I'd do it more but thats ever 5 or 6 months and then i chnage it when I've gone track days so that enough.
Air filters fine there no problem there best run it on the best disel not some cheap supermarket stuff that optimax etc stuffs the best and getts better economy and chnage the fuel filter.
Ther are cars on over 140k. The most powerful dci 65 (stock) ever tested had 120k on it or so.
