Nice one CB! Im def going to have a go at this next time. How much can I expect to pay for a filter removal tool - and did you use any ramps etc to get under the car?

a filter removal strap is about £12 from halfords, theres a few different ones, like chains etc

Even cheaper and just as efficient, hammer a screwdriver through the old one! Yee ha, hear them spurs jangle!

I always manage to remove them by hand. If you dont do it up too tight, and you lube the ring of the filer case, then you can do that.

Technicalman yes a screwdriver is a great tool to use for those stubbon ones, used it manya time myself .

Mike dont jack the car up as you need level ground to make sure all the oil is out.

Ben H, yes I also emphasized about Lubbing the O ring up this is vitally important and not many people do this and end up with leaky filter.
